Upon hearing that, Whitney’s cheeks turned bright red in embarrassment.
“Yay! Godmother! If Uncle Charles ever chooses another woman to be his wife, I would never agree!”
Zendaya lifted her chin, looking quite pleased with herself.
After the group chuckled in amusement, Gwendolyn reminded Whitney to keep safe before handing over a bank card.
“You’ll inevitably need money over there. Take this card, it’s my supplementary card. Use as much as you need. Don’t worry about paying me back. Once Charles returns, I’ll collect the principal and interest from him.”
Whitney was somewhat taken aback, unsure of whether to accept the card or not.
She was already very grateful to Gwendolyn for being willing to lend her the latter’s plane. If I were to take her card too…
“Alright now, Whitney, you should keep this. When the time comes, my brother will pay me back. You’ve joined our family for a while now, it’s about time to splurge on his account.”
Jasmine took the card decisively and tucked it into Whitney’s bag.
Gwendolyn nodded, “Alright, it’s getting late. By the time you get there, it’ll probably be dark. Be careful on your way, and don’t hesitate to contact us if anything comes up.”
After bidding each of them farewell, Whitney finally boarded the plane, feeling a warm sensation in her heart.
She looked out the window, where Jasmine was still waving at her with an excited expression.
Whitney waved goodbye to each of them before retracting her gaze and waiting for the plane to take off.
The decor inside the airplane was understated, yet every item was incredibly luxurious, reflecting the ultra-rich status of the plane’s owner.
Once the airplane cabin door closed, Gwendolyn and her companions began to leave.
Feeling a twinge of jealousy over his wife’s generous act, Cedrick draped his arm over her shoulder and said, “Gwenny, I don’t even have a supplementary card from you. When can I get the same treatment?
Gwendolyn was rendered speechless.
She playfully pounded Cedrick’s chest. “You’re the esteemed CEO of Jenson Group, the head of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the famous Mr. Jenson of Salinsburgh. You’re not short of money so why do you need my supplementary card?”
Cedrick frowned, his handsome face taking on a pitiful look. “Honey, i’ve already handed over my salary to you.”
As he spoke, Cedrick caught up with Gwendolyn pace.
The family subsequently left together, amidst laughter and cheerful chater
Meanwhile, outside a villa in Muprary.
Charles arrived with his men, but the local bigwig there had no intention of meeting him.
Isaac stepped forward, speaking to them fluently in the local language. “Didn’t Leonardo promise to meet us today? Why the sudden change of plans?”
The man holding the gun wore a stern expression, and the light reflecting off his sunglasses was so glaring that Isaac had to squint.
“Our boss has spoken. He agrees to meet but on one condition. Only Mr. Newton can enter. The rest of you must wait outside.”
Muprary was an incredibly hot country, with temperatures often exceeding thirty-five degrees Celsius. If one were to wait outside for too long, one might suffer from a heatstroke.
Isaac refused, “No. If Mr. Newton goes in alone, his safety cannot be guaranteed. The biggest concession we can make is that I accompany Mr. Newton to meet Leonardo. If Leonardo still wants money, then he should stop trying to cross our threshold.”
The man whispered a few words to his henchman, who then went in to deliver the message.
Leonardo stood by the window, looking down at Charles at ground level. His scarred face was brimming with frostiness.
The woman beside him cooed, “Mr. Hollis, is that Charles from Chanaea? He is quite handsome, but compared to you, he’s just a pretty boy. A man like you is what we women truly like.”
The woman leaned on Leonardo’s arm. Her seductive gesture had ignited the lust within him.
He bit her ear. “Sweetheart, be a good girl and wait for me in the room. I’ll be done very soon.”
