“A marriage built on a show instead of love. It’s nothing new to me in this age.”
Christine took a cup of vodka and drank it in one gulp.
Claudia lowered her head. Though Christine was speaking in a different language, her words touched Claudia deeply.
What Ben playacted could be seen through so easily by someone else.
Was he really bad at acting? Or because he never love her at all?
Who knew that.
“Don’t get me wrong. I don’t mean to hurt you. I just feel a little bit weird,” Christine turned around to look at her gently and curiously with her blue eyes.
She wasn’t demeaning her. She was just caring about her like a friend, like how Kim did to her.
“From your eyes, I can tell that you love Mr. Crawford so much…that you would like to dedicate yourself for him, right?”
Claudia was stunned and held her breath.
She turned around and took a look at the man who was drinking with other bosses in distance. Christine smiled and continued, “But from his eyes, I can see he doesn’t love you, not at all…Why?”
“…”
Claudia didn’t reply.
The answer was simple.
Everyone knew that he didn’t love her.
That was ridiculous!
Even a foreigner knew it now!
“I love to guess what people is thinking. Through his emotion and small movements, I can know a lot about him, like how is his mood, what he has been going through…” Christine explained. Claudia noticed it as well. That was the power of psychology.
You could say she had a strong observing ability, or you could also call her a hypnotist, using stimulation and implication to find someone’s weakness from which she could breach into the mind of him.
Christine took another glass of vodka and handed it to Claudia, “So I’m not trying to hurt you. On the contrary, I pretty like you, Claudia.”
Claudia took the cup out of courtesy. She knew she shouldn’t drink it since her stomach was in pain, but in this mood, she really wanted to wash down the bitterness with this cup of liquor.
“I can give you some help, if you don’t mind. What do you think?”Christine took another cup of wine for herself and smiled sweetly.
Claudia frowned and didn’t put it in mind. She clinked her glass against Christine’s and drank it.
Once she tasted the ‘vodka’, she was surprised.
When did she switch the vodka to water? She turned to stare at Christine in astonishment.
This lady was a real tough one.
Christine smiled much brighter and whispered in her ear, “Trust me, I can help you!”
Claudia didn’t put it in mind, but when she recalled her words a few days later, she would be surprised.
When the party was over, it was already 11 pm.
Simon and Ben drank and talked a lot. When the party was over, they went to a bar nearby and continued to drink until midnight.
