The incidents that had happened these few days had still been vividly clear in her memories as Monique made her way to her uncle's house, feeling depressed. Furthermore, the words that her aunty said to her kept repeating itself in her mind. It looked like it had been time for her to leave that house for good.
"Monique!" A familiar and soft voice of a young man was heard.
Monique looked up and saw the handsome young man in front of her, "Simon!"
Monique was about to express her concern when she had seen the few bruises on his face.
"I'm sorry, Monique. I didn't protect you well last night." Simon lowered his head slightly, having felt guilty.
Five years ago, he had failed to protect Monique, yet five years later, he failed again.
It turned out that last night had not been a dream. Monique did meet with Simon and even drank with him, and that the things that Simon mentioned last night had not been a dream either.
"Don't say that, Simon. I'm happy we could meet up." Monique let out a gentle smile.
Simon raised his gaze and saw the bruise on Monique's neck, "That f*cker, what did he do to you? I'm going to look for him."
Simon rushed out, trying to have looked for Henry to settle the score with him but was halted by Monique.
Last night, Monique felt as though she had been involved in a huge fight. She tried to have opened her eyes that night to see what had been going on but her efforts went down the drain. Seeing Simon's face covered with bruises just proved that he indeed had been in a fight.
It could have been that was the one Henry who had beaten him up. Simon had not been a match for Henry, he would have only injured himself if he were to have rumbled with him again.
"Simon, he's my boyfriend." Monique felt extremely devastated but she still forced out a smile, "He treats me very well."
"But you looked sad last night. Monique, if you're unhappy with him, then just come with me! I can provide for you as a family as well!" Simon, who was feeling sorry for Monique said it.
'He said he could provide for me as a family!'
Monique stood frozen. She had been longing for a family for a very long time.
