Charlotte raised an eyebrow and smiled. “Not someone you want to fool with. Just treat her well and nothing bad will befall you.”
“So secretive. Come on, give me a hint!” Jacob said.
Monique’s identity was not a secret. Maybe if Jacob knew who she was, he would treat her better. “You’re such a gossip, can’t you tell who she is?”
“I only have eyes for you,” Jacob said flirtatiously.
He scanned through his memories.
“Nonsense! She’s the female driver that everyone’s talking about,” Charlotte said in a hushed voice.
“The chairman’s woman? Why is she in the planning department?”
“Hush. I’ll update you through text. Get back in there!” Charlotte urged him.
Jacob frowned. He needed to act as their eyes.
Having an important person in the office was a nuisance.
Charlotte left for the personnel department. Her job was done.
Manager Harper made a call to the chairman while Charlotte was away.
He ran through different versions of the script in his head before making the call.
The dial tone rang for a good while before someone picked up and said, “Hello.”
A deep, masculine voice came from the other end. There was not an ounce of warmth in the man’s tone.
Manager Harper felt a shiver down his spine as he said, “Chairman Moore, Miss Xander has completed the employee induction and is reporting for her first day of work.”
