"I don't want to." Angel's fair and chubby little arms swung around Monique's neck. She pursed her soft little lips and kissed Monique's fair face, "I want mommy to shower me."
Mrs. Lawson was touched after witnessing the scene as she pleaded on behalf of Angel, "Why don’t you just shower her?"
Monique was left with no other option and nodded.
Mrs. Lawson was curious and asked, "If today's your first day at work, why do you have so much work to do? Why don’t I have a word with the Young Master?"
Monique's mouth curled into a smile and said, "Nevermind, I'm the one who asked them to assign me with some work. Besides, it's not a heavy workload. It's because I'm incapable. So, I’m much slower at it."
Mrs. Lawson nodded, "Alright, just let me know if you need anything. You can even go straight to the Young Master if you have problems."
Monique grasped Angel’s hand tightly. She was not able to remain calm whenever Henry's name was brought up.
"Sure, thanks, Mrs. Lawson. Then, I'll head upstairs and shower Angel." It was no easy feat for Monique to force those few words out. She tried her very best to remain calm.
"Angel, it's very late already. It’s time for bed." Monique told Angel.
Perhaps it was the thought of Henry or the incomplete proposal that was frustrating her. Monique only wanted to coax Angel to sleep and continue with her work.
However, Angel seemed to glue herself to Monique. Even more than usual. She said, "Mommy, I don't feel like sleeping yet. Can you read me a picture book?" Angel stared at Monique with her cute and chubby face, along with her sparkly eyes.
Monique let out a sigh as she was not in the mood and said, "Alright, only one okay?"
Angel nodded as her pretty face now revealed a smile that would spellbind anyone who saw it.
Monique could not help but smile as she picked up the picture book on the bed and started reading it.
