Monique raised her head with her gaze fixed upon Louise. She then asked with a trembling voice, "Will you love a man who wanted to choke you to death? Louise, do you know just how I wished he would have just choked me to death. Instead, he kept me alive and told me that I have no right to choose death before he was done having fun with me! In fact, I can't be choosing death as I still have Angel!"
Monique felt utterly devastated. She was peeling off the scars that formed over her wounds, as she lifted her head. She stared at the ceiling while trying hard to hold back her tears. Nevertheless, tears continued streaming down her face and all the way into her ears.
Louise was dumbfounded as she widened her eyes in astonishment. She never witnessed someone so helpless and downhearted.
"He thinks I'm dirty. He dragged me into the bathroom and sprinkled me with cold water for a whole half an hour. The water was icy cold. So cold that it was as though it was prickling into my bones. I’m so heartbroken. I know that I'm not worthy of his love but whenever he demonstrated the slightest sign of gentleness, I would just dive deeper into love. Again, why, why would he treat me like that!"
Louise was trembling as she came over to Monique and hugged her tight. She felt sorry for not realizing that all these while, Monique was living the hard way. Yet, she still asked her such a silly question. Louise then said, "I'm sorry, I'm really sorry!"
Monique shook her head and looked at Louise. She suppressed her sorrow and said, "Why are you apologizing to me? You didn’t hurt me. I've decided to toughen myself up so I can protect Angel."
Louise kept nodding her head and said in an angry tone, "Yeah, from now onwards, we'll keep a distance from that beast. That b*stard’s no longer my idol!"
Louise never thought the chairman would be such a violent man.
If it was not because of Henry coming to her rescue back then, she would have beaten him up. 'All this while, I thought the chairman was a sentimental person.'
'Even if Monique was wrong in the first place, that was not a way to treat such a helpless young lady.'
"If I can leave him, I would have done it a long time ago. I owe him money and he even threatened me. He said if I refused to stay back, he would call the cops and have me arrested! Louise, I actually thought of leaving and getting away as far from him as possible. I felt as though time passed very slowly throughout this entire month," said Monique helplessly.
"This is shameless! He forced you to pay just because you destroyed one of his shirts?" Louise asked as she pulled out a chair and sat beside Monique.
Monique felt grievance as she nodded.
