Esther couldn't help but laugh. "Okay then. Just don't lie to me."

James gently touched her hair. "I promise, I won't. Would you ever feel disgusted by me?"

"Why would I feel disgusted?" Esther was puzzled, and after a moment, she seemed upset. "If I dislike you now, what happens when you're old and your teeth fall out? Should I leave you for another old man?"

Her tone was stern yet playful, which made James laugh.

"What if I don't even grow old?"

"I'm serious, James! Please don't make jokes about this." Esther thought if he could still joke, he must be alright. She rolled her eyes and moved his hand away from her hair.

"Alright, I'm sorry for making you mad. I was just kidding."

Esther gave him a stern look. "I have to go to the set later, so I can't stay here with you much longer."

Then, she suddenly asked, "Should I quit my job and stay with you?" She had returned to acting after the epidemic ended, meaning less time together with him.

James quickly dismissed the idea. "Absolutely not."

"But I want to be with you..." Esther said, looking down, reluctant to leave. He was still quite ill, and she was clearly worried about him.
