"You have your job," she told him. "You don't need to come with me."

Richard frowned. "But this is a critical time for you. You should have someone to look after you."

"Isn't that why you asked Adrian to come? I'll be fine with him."

Just as Adrian was about to reassure Richard of his commitment to Pearl's safety, he caught a sharp, jealous glance from him. Realizing the precariousness of his situation, he nervously chuckled. "Well, I think Mister Richard would take better care of you, but since he's busy, I'll fill in."

Richard, though still uneasy, nodded his approval.
