The woman beside them finally grasped their relationship. She couldn't believe it. "You're her husband? No way."

"Why not?"

The woman didn't expect Pearl's husband to be so young and handsome. Jealousy filled her immediately. "She doesn't have a husband. I've never seen her with any man. Did she hire you to act like one?"

Richard narrowed his eyes, pleased to learn that Pearl hadn't been seen with other men. "Just because she's not seen with men doesn't mean she's not married. If she doesn't have a husband, then who's the father of her child?"

The woman snorted coldly. "Well, he's an illegitimate child. God knows which man fathered him."

Richard's smile vanished when the woman implied his son was born out of wedlock. "I'll give you another chance. Who do you say he is?"

Feeling his anger, the woman quickly changed her tune. "Actually, I'm not entirely sure."

Pearl realized she wasn't as strong as the man in front of her, which made her unhappy. She knew he could make this woman apologize just because he was handsome.

Richard raised an eyebrow and glanced at Pearl's son, Darius, who had been silent with his head down. He told the woman, "Since you're uncertain and you've labeled him unfairly, you owe him an apology."
