"If I hadn't been talking to Mister Richard, he wouldn't have hit the car in front. So, it's my fault. What if he doesn't wake up?" Darius was scared thinking about the accident.

Pearl, seeing Darius so upset, gently touched his hair to comfort him. "Don't worry too much, Darius. He's strong. He'll be okay."

"Really?" Darius looked up, his face wet with tears.

"Of course. Just rest here. I'll go check on him and come back," Pearl reassured him quickly and left, feeling relieved when she saw Darius was calmer.

Standing outside the emergency room, Pearl stared at the bright red light above her. It made her heart ache.

They had just gotten back together after overcoming many challenges. She couldn't let it all end because of this accident.

Pearl silently hoped for the best.

An hour passed… then three… seven… thirteen…

From eight in the morning to nine at night, Pearl couldn't relax.

Finally, the surgery was successful. When the red light turned off, Pearl sank into a chair, exhausted.

Richard made it through but was taken to the ICU. He would move to a regular room once he was stable.

Relieved, Pearl decided to update Darius. She had been waiting all day, only leaving to get food.
