Esther did what she said, and the next morning, she called Finnegan to give her a ride to work.

When Finnegan arrived, Jasper greeted him with a big smile. "My dear daughter, I didn't think you'd start accepting him so soon. But don't worry, I can assure you he's a good man. He'll treat you right."

Esther wiped the sweat from her forehead. "I've known him for a while, so don't worry. I wouldn't just start dating anyone."

"That's good," Jasper said, grabbing Finnegan's hand. "Have you eaten breakfast yet? If not, would you like to come in and have some?"

Finnegan shook his head. "I've already eaten, Uncle Jasper. I came to take Esther to work."

Jasper pretended to be upset with Esther. "How could you make him come all this way just for that? His place is quite far, isn't it?"

"It's okay, it's not that far. This is the first time Esther asked me to pick her up and I'm happy to do it."

Esther felt a bit embarrassed. "Well, since you're here, let's go," she said, waving goodbye as they left.

Jasper happily waved back at them.
