"So, you're saying these marriage certificates are real?" Esther still couldn't believe it, feeling like she was in a dream. She even felt overwhelmed holding the marriage certificates in her hands.

James frowned, a little impatient with her doubts. "Do you really want me to dig up the registration information from back then?"

Esther was completely defeated. "We're married now?"

James nodded. "You could say that. So now, you should come back home with me."

Esther couldn't shake the feeling that this marriage wasn't what she had imagined. It wasn't the wedding she envisioned in her childhood, and the simplicity of getting a marriage certificate felt too rushed. Besides, she hadn't forgiven him yet! Why should she comply so easily?

James couldn't stand her crying the most. He softened his approach. "Alright, don't cry anymore." He walked around to her front, reaching out to wipe away her tears. "Tell me what's wrong. Why did you suddenly change your mind? You seemed fine earlier."

Esther blurted out her grievances. "You say we're married, but where's the proper wedding? You didn't even propose properly. I won't marry you!"
