"Joelle! Elle!"

Darius looked around, but he couldn't find Joelle. Just then, a strange man appeared in front of him, grinning in a creepy way.

The man was wearing a mask, so Darius couldn't see his face clearly. But something about the smile looked familiar, especially the way his lips curved. It was a fake smile.

The man himself seemed familiar too. Darius felt like he had seen him before.

"You're looking for a girl?" the man asked.

When Darius heard this, he grabbed the man's sleeve nervously. He noticed the man's arm was very thin and scrawny.

There was nothing in his other sleeve.

"Do you know where she is?" Darius asked urgently.

"Yes, I do. I can take you to her. But first, you have to tell me something."

Darius was suspicious, but this was his only chance. "What is it?"

After a long pause, the man finally asked the question, "Is your mom doing okay?" His voice was hoarse.

Darius didn't know why the man cared about his mom, but he nodded. "She's doing pretty good. Who are you? Why do you care about my mom?"
