Your Guise Is Slipping, Miss Pearl (Pearl and Richard) novel Chapter 395

Chapter 395

That sadness was gone in an instant, leaving behind a feeling of pity and regret.

Could it be that she was just fooling herself? Everyone else seemed to notice Richard’s change of heart, while she clung to the idea that he hadn’t changed at all.

“After four years, Richard will probably be tempted again. If you don’t believe me, just wait for the day he dumps you and ends up with Jenny.” Raymond chuckled and let go of her hand.

Pearl’s heart ached. She forced herself to stay composed and turned to walk away.

“Oh, by the way, there’s one more thing I forgot to tell you,” Raymond whispered in Pearl’s ear, “I really like you.”

Pearl immediately stomped on his foot, causing Raymond to wince in pain. He bit his l*p to stifle any sound.

“Pearl…” He forced a smile. “Even if you don’t believe it, I genuinely like you, just as much as Richard.”

Pearl didn’t bother responding to him. Right now, all she wanted was to find a quiet place to think

As she left the bar, she suddenly saw a familiar figure at the entrance.

‘Hugo Waldorf? What’s he doing here?’ Pearl watched as Hugo entered the bar. She hurriedly followed, intentionally avoiding Raymond, and sat down behind Hugo.

She kept her head down to hide. When she looked up again, the familiar person in front of her made her gasp involuntarily.

‘Hugo and Jenny? Why are they meeting here in the middle of the night?’

Before she could react, Hugo spoke, “How have you been lately? Is Richard treating you well?”

Jenny proudly raised her chin. “Of course, he treats me very well. He’s completely ignoring Pearl now and giving all his attention to me. He’s even helping me with many things. If it weren’t for Pearl not breaking up with him yet, I would’ve made our relationship official.”

“So, you’re saying that Richard… neglects Pearl to be with you?” Hugo was slightly surprised but then smiled knowingly.

“Yeah, I get the feeling that Richard isn’t treating Pearl that well. Every time she calls him, he frowns and hangs up quickly. I think Richard hasn’t broken up with Pearl because she hasn’t brought it up herself. Otherwise, he would’ve ended things a long time ago.”

Pearl, listening from behind, froze in place. Although Jenny was usually indulgent, what she said didn’t seem to be false. Was Richard waiting for her to break up?

“By the way, did you ask me to be here for something?”

Hugo nodded. “Yeah, I wanted to find out if you truly like him.”

“Of course, I’ve liked him for eight years.”

“Doesn’t what happened between us last time matter?” Hugo grinned, his smile fading, leaving a hint of unspoken bitterness that quickly disappeared.

Jenny looked embarrassed. “I slept with you last time because I drank too much, Hugo. I’ve made it clear afterward that we should forget about it. You shouldn’t use this to threaten me.”

“I’m not threatening you.”
