Your Love Is But a Dream (Clara and Wren) novel Chapter 254

Looking at Wren's eyes, Ryan felt a shiver down his spine. Instinctively, he glanced at Clara. As he was about to say something, Wren shifted a step to the right, blocking his view.

With no other choice, Ryan left with him.

"Just stay here. I'll be back soon." Wren's expression softened as he spoke to Clara, his voice calm and reassuring.

He bent down, picked up the things Ryan had brought, then followed him out, closing the door behind him.

Clara hesitated for a moment but decided to do as Wren said, staying put instead of following.

The moment Ryan stepped out of the room, he picked up his pace, moving as quickly as possible. A deep unease settled in his gut, urging him to put as much distance between himself and Wren as possible.

Watching him rush away, Wren could feel that he was feeling diffident. Without hesitation, he strode forward and cornered Ryan in the stairwell.

Ryan hadn't expected Wren to catch up so fast. His grip on the railing tightened, fingers pressing hard against the metal as he tried to mask his unease.

Forcing a casual tone, he pretended not to recognize Wren. "Mr. Salford, is there something else you need?"

Wren didn't acknowledge the feigned politeness. His gaze remained cold as he looked at Ryan, throwing his belongings at his feet. "Take your things and leave."

Ryan's gaze darkened as he watched the bouquet and fruit basket he had carefully selected get tossed to the ground.

With the weight of what had just happened hanging over him, he held his frustration back. He bent down, reaching for the bouquet.

But before he could touch it, Wren stepped forward, crushing the delicate white roses beneath his shoe. In that instant, the petals scattered across the floor.
