Brian thought to himself that once Arlana had enough of being humiliated, she’d come running back to him.
Meanwhile, Ariana lifted the hem of her gown and started walking through the hall. She had barely taken a few steps when she overheard a mocking voice nearby.
“Well, well. Isn’t this Ariana Torrey? Did she walk into the wrong party by mistake?”
“Doesn’t look like it. Who knows what tricks
left her alone, not even sparing her pulled to get Mr. Lodge to bring her along? Look–he’s already
“Everyone knows Mr. Lodge only has eyes for Evelyn. She’s just embarrassing herself at this point.”
The snide remarks were loud enough to reach Ariana’s ears, but she had no intention of engaging with them.
In her previous life, she hadn’t attended this gala with Brian, but she’d heard that Victor had been utterly captivated by Evelyn’s dance.
Ariana had seen Evelyn’s dancing before. She was considered decent within this circle, but far from professional. Ariana, however, had been trained in ballroom dancing from a young age. Perhaps… It was worth a shot.
Ariana walked up to a waiter and whispered a few words.
Seeing this, one of the socialites from the group sneered. “What’s Ariana up to now? Seriously, the eldest daughter of the Torrey family will do anything to catch Mr. Lodge’s attention. It’s pathetic, really.”
Soon, the sound of tango filled the room. Standing in the center of the ballroom, Ariana curtsied gracefully, commanding the attention of the entire audience.
*“Mr. Lodge, look over there!” Emily pointed toward the dance floor.
Brian frowned and walked over, only to see Ariana paired with an unknown male dance partner and started dancing. The two of them had their bodies close to each other and were moving in perfect harmony. Ariana’s fluid, and elegant movements captivated the audience’s attention
Her figure was accentuated by every movement. The crowd was utterly mesmerized.
“This is outrageous! She’s just flaunting her looks to steal the spotlight!
“Exactly! How shameless can she get, performing such a provocative dance in front of everyone?”
The sneers from the sidelines only intensified as the socialites seethed with envy.
Restricted by her fishtail gown, Ariana’s footwork was limited. Just as the crowd anticipated her embarrassment, she tore off the lower half of her gown in one swift motion,
With a stunning spin, her transformation left everyone in awe. It was as if a mermaid had shed her tail to reveal human legs. Her daring move electrified the room, leaving the audience murmuring in amazement.
On the second–floor corridor, a man lightly tapped the railing with his fingers, a faint smirk playing on his lips. His voice was deep, magnetic, and full of intrigue. “Is that Evelyn?” he asked.
“No. That’s Ariana Torrey, the eldest daughter of the Torreys.”
“Ariana Torrey…” he repeated, raising an eyebrow.
Rumor had it that the Torrey family’s eldest daughter spent her days mimicking Evelyn, hopelessly chasing after Brian’s affection. Yet, watching her now, the rumor seemed wildly off the mark.
