Chapter 106
The crowd collectively sucked in a sharp breath. Everyone chew this was Victor’s event, and his actions were a clear warning that no one should cross him.
Even Brian and Evelyn were drawn to the commotion. When Brian saw Ariana in Victor’s arms, his eyes darkened with displeasure.
Next to him, Evelyn spoke softly, “Ms. Torrey certainly has her ways. It’s only their first meeting, and Mr. Smith is already standing up for her.” Evelyn’s words were intentional, and they deepened the frown on Brian’s face.
Was Ariana so desperate to latch onto a new sugar daddy?
“Thank you, Mr. Smith,” Ariana said, trying to step away from his embrace, only to feel Victor’s arm tighten around her waist. He clearly had no intention of letting her go.
Ariana looked up and met his icy, penetrating gaze. She softened her tone and said, “Mr. Smith, you’re hurting me
Hearing this, Victor leaned in closer, his low and cutting voice brushing against her car. “Don’t play games with me. I can smell prey when it’s near, but you’re the first one to throw yourself into the lion’s den.”
With that, he released his hand from her waist. Then, under the watchful eyes of everyone, Victor walked past Ariana without a second glance.
Realizing her opportunity was about to slip through her fingers, Ariana stepped forward and looped her arm through his. “Mr. Smith, I need a partner tonight.‘
Upon hearing this, Victor frowned slightly. Beside him, Hunter scowled, visibly annoyed.
Hadn’t Victor already called her out? How could she still dare to play these games? Just as Hunter moved to intervene, Victor raised his hand, stopping him. “And why should I help you?”
“Haddon Street, No. 120. Aren’t you planning to expand into Gleaston? I can help you.”
Her words seemed absurd, almost laughable, yet they piqued Victor’s curiosity. “Oh? And how exactly would you help me?” he asked.
“My family, the Torreys, have been in Gleason with decades of influence, and you, Mr. Smith, want to expand your business here. Even in our current state, the Lodge family sees enough value to propose a marriage alliance. Tell me, Mr, Smith, what do you think I can offer?”
Ariana’s words were concise, every syllable purposeful.
Victor arched a brow. “How do you know about Haddon Street No. 120?”
That was confidential information, known only to a select few.
Ariana replied confidently, “I just know it.”
She also knew much more. Victor had been poised to dominate Gleaston, but he had ultimately abandoned his plans to follow a heartbroken Evelyn abroad. At the time, the entire city had buzzed with gossip about Evelyn’s allure. She had managed to captivate not just Brian, but also Victor Smith- two of the most powerful men in the region.
Ariana wasn’t looking to bind Victor to her, but she couldn’t afford to make him an enemy. While she had William’s backing now, the Torrey family was still unstable. She needed time to rebuild and stabilize before she could stand against Brian on equal footing,
