Chapter 124
Selena still didn’t get it. Ariana handed her the phone.
The screen showed the confession page, where someone had posted loads of gossip about Ariana and Brian, with Evelyn dragged into it.
“Ariana Torrey in a Love Triangle With Brian Lodge and Evelyn Granger?”
Selena gasped as she read the headline. She scrolled on. “They’re calling you ‘the social butterfly of high society, juggling three tycoons‘?”
“You actually read these ridiculous headlines out loud.”
Ariana didn’t have the courage to say anything written on it out loud. Everything on there was just wild conjecture, thrown together with exaggerated rumors.
Selena clicked her tongue. “The people making this stuff up could work for a tabloid. They’ve got some imagination.”
“Excuse me, miss!”
Suddenly, an energetic man ran up to Ariana. He was fairly handsome and held out a single rose, pushing it into her hand.
“Do… Do you have a boyfriend?”
Selena sighed and said, “Dude, she’s got a flancé. Maybe you should look elsewhere.”
Hearing this, he froze. Another man pulled him aside. “Are you nuts? Do you even know who she is? How could ‘you confess to her?”
The energetic man looked confused, clearly not knowing who she was. His friend quickly told him that she was Ariana, the current hot topic on campus.
Hearing this, the man’s face fell, and the two hurriedly scurried off.
Ariana watched them flee and said, “See that? The name ‘Ariana Torrey‘ is enough to scare everyone off. Even the cats and dogs at Glea College would probably run away when they see me.”
“No need for that.” A voice came from behind them.
Ariana turned around and saw Victor, dressed sharply in a suit.
Selena had never been this close to Victor before.
She stared in awe, recalling the rumors about Victor supposedly falling for Ariana at first sight. He had publicly sided with her at an auction, completely unbothered about provoking Brian.
Selena hadn’t believed it–until now.
Seeing Victor in person at college, she felt it might be true after all.
She clutched Ariana’s arm in excitement and whispered, “That’s Victor Smith! Victor Smith!”
Ariana asked, “Mr. Smith, are you here to talk about an investment? Did you plan to dabble in charity work?”
“I’m not here to invest. I came for you.”
With that, Victor lifted his hand and took hold of Ariana’s arm.
