There was a sly spark in her eyes.
Victor took a sip of his coffee. “I heard you supposedly liked Brian so much you stoop to all sorts of humiliating behavior. Now you’re ready to leave him? Why?”
She answered, “I do like Brian. But I want to show my sincerity to you. Besides, I know he’s got someone else on his mind. Why should I go on making a fool of myself?”
Her tone was earnest, but Victor could sense something off
“Ms. Torrey, with your knack for talking, it’s a pity you’re not in sales.”
He set his coffee cup down and continued, “My guess is, you just want to end the engagement and need someone powerful enough to help you. That’s why you came to me, ght?”
Ariana had been about to give a token denial, but Victor went on, “I’m not saying I won’t help you.‘
Before she could respond, he added, “You can call Evelyn right now. Let’s all find a place to talk.”
“Great, I was waiting for you to say that.”
With that, she took out her phone.
Meanwhile, Brian was sitting in his car with a grim expression.
Emily answered a call. When she heard that Ariana was at the Gleaston Grand Hotel, her face looked troubled.
“Mr. Lodge.”
“You found her?”
“She’s at the Gleaston Grand Hotel.”
Hearing that Ariana really had gone to get a room with Victor made Brian’s face turn even darker. The temperature in the car seemed to drop ten degrees.
