Gwen spoke as if everything she said was perfectly reasonable. 

Ariana recalled her past life. Around the same time, Gwen had thrown a birthday party for Igor. She had leveraged her position as the future in–law of the Lodge family to book another high–end hotel. 

That event had ended in utter embarrassment, further deepening Brian’s disdain for Ariana. 

In her previous life, Gwen didn’t dare overstep her bounds since Brian had no affection for Ariana. However, with Ariana already living in the Lodge residence in this life, Gwen became increasingly brazen, assuming that Ariana had secured her position. 

“Ms. Lambert,” Ariana said coolly, “I think we didn’t even celebrate my birthday last year. Weren’t you the one who told Dad that a young woman should keep a low profile instead of parading herself in public? Am I right?” 

Gwen remained shameless as ever, even after Ariana dredged up the past. “Guys and girls are not the same. Besides, you’ve already taken over the company. 

“What about Igor’s future? He needs to attend such social events to meet important figures! If you don’t agree, I’ll just ask Brian. He will never refuse his future mother–in–law the dignity I deserve!” 

Ariana chuckled coldly. Huh, a mother–in–law? Gwen herself could believe in it however she wanted. 

Brian had never acknowledged Gwen, let alone considered her a mother–in–law. 

“Go ahead and ask Brian,” Ariana replied mockingly. “Let’s see if he agrees.” 

With that, she hung up. 

Selena, who had been standing nearby, immediately asked, What did she want this time?” 

“She wants to throw a birthday party for Igor at the Royal Hotel.” 

“What?” Selena’s face was full of disbelief. Even the Lovegoods would struggle to get a booking for the Royal Hotel. 

“That old witch is delusional,” Selena muttered. “The Royal Hotel only caters to the elite. Who does she think she is?” 

“She said she’d talk to Brian. Let her try. It’s not my problem even if it blows up in her face.” 

Ariana knew all too well that Igor was an absolute waste of oxygen. Throwing such a grand party for him would likely end in him getting so drunk he’d lose control of himself, and that would only embarrass Brian further. 

“Forget about her,” Ariana said calmly. “Let’s head to class” 

She grabbed Selena’s arm, ready to leave for their lecture. 

At the same time, another conversation unfolded. 

“Mr. Lodge, we’ve confirmed with Ms. Piper. She said it was probably just a misunderstanding on her part.” 

Brian wasn’t satisfied with the explanation. Was it a misunderstanding, or was it a deliberate act? The thought gave him a headache. 

“Forget it. Let’s head back to the office,” he said with a frown. 

As he boarded the car to leave Glea College, his phone rang It was a call from Gwen.
