Chapter 143
“Ms. Lambert, Igor is not a child. He’s already an adult.” Ariana cut Gwen off.
Gwen was left speechless.
Ariana continued, “Let me make this crystal clear while we’re at it. Not only is the Torrey residence under my name but so is the company. Everything my father owned, aside from the five million dollars he left for you and your right to live here, belongs to me. Beyond that, you have nothing. If you keep yelling at me like this, don’t blame me for kicking you and your son out. I promise… You won’t win in court.”
Ariana’s words left no room for negotiation.
Igor and Gwen’s expressions turned unpleasant.
Seeing that both of them understood their position, Ariana stood up and went upstairs.
“What does she mean by that?” Igor smashed a cup onto the floor.
Halfway up the stairs, Ariana paused at the commotion.
Igor’s outburst was clearly directed at her.
Without turning back, she said, “Everything in the house is mine. Make sure you pay for everything you break. I’ll be conducting regular checks.”
“You!” Igor was livid and was about to storm upstairs to confront her, but Gwen held him back.
“Igor! Don’t act rashly!” Gwen warned.
“Mom! She’s taking this too far!” Igor protested.
“And who’s to blame for that? That old fool left everything to Ariana!” Igor stomped his feet.
Gwen’s anger flared as she recalled how hard she had worked to care for Carson when he was alive. Despite all her efforts, Carson had left them with pennies!
The more she thought about it, the angrier she became.
“Are we going to let Ariana walk over us? Mom, I can’t accept this!” Igor fumed.
“You’ll have to, whether you like it or not! We have no choice but to endure.” Gwen took a deep breath. “Do you think Ariana will stay unmarried forever? Let’s see if she still has the time or energy to manage the Torrey family affairs once she marries into the Lodge family. When that happens, I’ll have my ways to reclaim everything that’s ours!”
However, there was another thing troubling Gwen.
She had just spent 12 million dollars today. It was one thing if she still ruled over the company. But now, she couldn’t even set foot inside, let alone command it.
John had been fired after their affair was exposed. Although Ariana hadn’t uncovered their embezzlement, Gwen could no longer steal money from the company.
