Chapter 144
That evening, Brian returned to the Lodge residence. Noticing only Francine was around, he asked, “Where’s Ariana?
“Ms. Torrey? She hasn’t come back yet today,” Francine replied.
“She’s still not back?” Brian glanced at the clock in the living room. “It’s already 10:00 pm. What kind of class goes this late?”
Francine hesitated. “Maybe… Maybe there’s an event?”
“What kind of event would a university have this late?” Brian frowned and pulled out his phone to call Ariana.
The phone rang before it was hung up.
Very well!
Francine noticed the change in Brian’s expression and thought of saying something on Ariana’s behalf.
Before she could speak, Brian ordered, “Throw everything in Ariana’s room out.”
“Throw… Throw it out?” Francine froze in shock. Those were Ariana’s belongings!
“If she doesn’t want to stay here, then let her leave.” Brian suffed.
Thinking of what Isaac had said, Brian realized he was paying far more attention to Ariana than he would like. The thought of her possibly using the same tactics to manipulate Victor and William only deepened his frustration.
So, she wanted to play hard to get? Fine. He would let her lose the game completely.
Brian decided he would show Ariana she shouldn’t mess with him. He would ignore her and see how long her facade would last. He was certain she would come running back to him eventually.
Later that evening, Francine decided to inform Ariana of what had happened.
At the time, Ariana was at the Torrey residence, coordinating plans to meet Evelyn. Upon hearing Francine’s update, Ariana shrugged. “If he wants to throw them out, let him. None of it is that important.”
She sounded indifferent. Those items were replaceable. If Brian wanted to toss them, he was only saving her the trouble of moving.
Francine was surprised by Ariana’s lack of concern. Could it be… This wasn’t a plot? Did Ariana not like Brian?
After Ariana ended the call, she received another one from Evelyn.
“Ms. Torrey, what do you mean by the message you sent?” Evelyn was skeptical
“Ms. Granger, I’ve already moved out of the Lodge residence. Brian has even thrown out all my belongings. I think that’s proof enough of my sincerity, right?” Ariana said.
Evelyn frowned on the other end of the line. For the past few days, Brian hadn’t reached out to her, and they hadn’t been talking ever since the rumors about Ariana. Evelyn assumed Ariana’s request to meet was for a confrontation. She hadn’t expected Ariana to willingly leave Brian.
It didn’t add up.
Ariana continued, “Ms. Granger, I have no intention of competing with you for Brian’s attention. I’m even willing to help you with some business connections. Mr. Smith is interested in one of your family’s properties. If you can meet with him, I believe a partnership between your families wouldn’t be out of reach.”
