Chapter 147
Ariana was forced into her seat.
Evelyn gazed between her and Victor.
“It seems you two are close. No wonder Mr. Smith entrusted you to contact me.” Evelyn smiled, masking her discomfort by sipping her water.
Victor ignored her. And now that Ariana had been brought over, Evelyn’s displeasure only grew.
Ariana could sense Evelyn’s annoyance. Knowing Evelyn, Ariana was certain she wouldn’t want to embarrass herself.
Ariana turned her focus back to Victor. “Mr. Smith, Ms. Granger is interested in collaborating with you. Summoning me here like this doesn’t seem very appropriate…”
Ariana tried to stand up.
But Victor pressed her back into the chair.
Ariana felt speechless.

Victor remained unfazed. “Since you’re the one who arranged this meeting, it’s only natural for you to be here.”
Then, he turned to Evelyn. “Don’t you agree, Ms. Granger?”
“You’re right, Mr Smith.” Evelyn’s expression betrayed her emotions.
Anyone could see that Evelyn was merely playing along to avoid offending Victor. However, Victor seemed .indifferent to her.
Ariana not only felt awkward but also uneasy.
“Well then, please proceed with your discussion.” Ariana cleared her throat. “I’ll simply stay here as a witness.”
“What’s the rush?” Victo

The server froze. Weren’t they not planning to eat? Nevertheless, he quickly handed over the menu.
Victor passed it to Ariana
Evelyn’s frustration grew. Victor rejected her invitation to dine moments ago. Yet now, he not only agreed to order but handed the menu to Ariana first.
What was the meaning of this? Was Victor humiliating her?
Ariana was just as surprised. “What are you doing?”
“Didn’t you say you were hungry?” Victor replied calmly. “don’t want my partner sitting through a discussion on an empty stomach.”
Ariana had only mentioned being hungry as an excuse.
Noticing Evelyn’s sour expression, Ariana handed the menu to her. “Ms. Granger, why don’t you take a look and see if there’s anything you’d like? The food here is excellent”
Even if Evelyn were hungry, she would have lost her appetite by now. “I’m not hungry. Feel free to order if you are, Mr. Torrey. After all, Mr. Smith is paying.”
