Chapter 148
Ariana stared at Victor in disbelief. He must be doing this on purpose. Was he deliberately making things harder for her?
Evelyn already resented Ariana and felt her anger boil over She had been invited to this meeting, yet Victor hadn’t even bothered ordering for her. What was he hinting at?
“Server! Three beef steaks and three glasses of red wine! Make it quick!” Ariana called out loudly, breaking the
tension.
Thankfully, she reacted swiftly. Otherwise, the situation would have become awkward when only two plates were served.
“Mr. Smith, if you want that piece of land from the Granger family, you can take it anytime,” Evelyn said as she produced a land transfer agreement.
Ariana was well aware that Evelyn had inherited some assets from her family. However, she hadn’t expected Evelyn to go as far as gifting a piece of land to win Victor over.
That plot stretched for a few miles in the heart of the city and was worth a fortune. Yet Evelyn was ready to give it away just like that. It seemed she had money to burn.
Victor took the agreement and skimmed through it. “The land must be worth a billion dollars. You’re quite generous to hand it over so casually, Ms. Granger.”
Evelyn smiled. “As Mr. Smith is new to the city, it’s only fitting that I extend my hospitality. Besides, collaborating with you is a great honor for the Granger family. What’s a piece of land compared to that?”
Her words were laced with admiration, leaving no doubt about her intentions.
Ariana recalled that in her previous life, Victor had actively pursued Evelyn, offering ten times the land’s value to purchase it. The deal had made waves throughout the city.
It was during that time that Evelyn grew closer to Victor, causing Brian to feel threatened. What followed was a three–year rivalry between Victor and Brian.
Ultimately, it was Brian’s grandmother’s disapproval of Evelyn that led to Evelyn’s heartbreak and her eventual departure overseas with Victor.
In this lifetime, Evelyn actively offered the land to Victor. Did Evelyn sense Brian’s wavering interest in her and decide to shift her focus to Victor instead?
As Ariana pondered this, Victor’s voice suddenly interrupted her thoughts. “I can’t accept this fand
Ariana snapped back to reality. What did he say? Why was he refusing a gift? Was he out of his mind?
Evelyn frowned. “What do you mean, Mr. Smith?”
“I was very interested in this land before. But I suddenly lost that interest.” Victor shrugged.
Evelyn’s expression darkened.
Ariana was stunned by the unexpected turn of events. “What’s that supposed to mean?”
“It means I don’t wall
the land,” Victor replied firmly.
As he finished speaking, the server arrived with three plates of steak and glasses of wine.
