Chapter 161
Ariana handed over a contract she had prepared in advance to Gwen. Seeing that Ariana had already arranged everything, Gwen’s expression darkened.
Ariana, however, remained unfazed and continued, “Ms. Lambert, I’ve already reviewed the contract thoroughly. All you need to do is sign it. Within seven days, I expect that pair of Aurora Pearls to be delivered to me. Seven days should be enough time for you to retrieve them, right?”
“Of course…” Gwen replied, though she couldn’t stop the faint trembling in her heart.
It was so million dollars! Where was she supposed to find that amount of money? Even after years of skimming from the Torreys and the company, it hadn’t added up to 80 million!
But for the sake of her son, Gwen gritted her teeth and signed the contract.
As Ariana took the signed contract, a satisfied smile spread across her face.
“Ari, I’ve signed the contract, so you can trust me. Please, rescue your brother first. What am I supposed to do if something happens to him while he’s still in Mr. Lodge’s hands?” Gwen pleaded.
Her face was full of concern, though her thoughts had already strayed to the upcoming birthday banquet at the Royal Hotel. She was already planning to doll her son up and match him with a wealthy heiress. A marriage
Tike that would guarantee her a life of luxury.
“Alright. I’ll head to see the Lodge family now and ask Mr. Lodge to release him,” Ariana replied and started to leave.
Gwen finally let out a sigh of relief.
“But Ms. Lambert, make sure to transfer the money quickly After all, we have a contract now.”
Gwen felt as if her chest tightened upon hearing Ariana’s words. She mentally cursed Ariana.
After settling the matter with Gwen, Ariana left the Torrey residence. Once in her car, she began contemplating whether to head to the Lodge residence or to Lodge Co.
After some thought, she dialed Emily’s number. The call connected quickly.
“Emily, where is Igor now?” Ariana asked.
There was a brief silence on the other end.
“Emily? She asked again, puzzled. Suddenly, a cold voice came through the line. “You called just to ask about this?
Ariana froze for a moment when she heard Brian’s voice. She glanced at her phone to confirm she had dialed the right number.
“Brian?” she asked, confused.
Why was Brian answering Emily’s phone?
“Your brother is in the office. If you want to take him, come here yourself,” Brian said curtly and hung up.
Compared to his usual short temper, Brian’s tone this time was notably calm, though coldly indifferent.
Ariana frowned. Could it be that he was upset because she had been spending too much time with Victor yesterday?
