Chapter 178
Gwen felt sick at the thought of how much money she had lost.
Ariana didn’t care about Gwen’s losses and deliberately drove away in the sports car that Gwen had sent over. Admiring the vibrant red color, she said with satisfaction, “This sports car is fantastic. I love it. Thanks, Ms. Lambert.”
With that, Ariana got into the driver’s seat, leaving Gwen on the verge of fainting again in the driveway.
In the rearview mirror, Ariana saw Gwen raging in the front yard. A faint smile curved her lips.
“Gwen, did you think this was over? No, it has only just begun,” Ariana thought.
Meanwhile, Brian was busy at Lodge Co.
“Mr. Lodge, aren’t you going to step in? The Torrey family is in chaos, and Ms. Torrey might not be able to handle it all by herself,” Emily said quietly.
Everyone knew about last night’s fiasco. It was going to be a lifelong joke. Igor’s reputation in their circle was shot.
Ariana, as his sister, was bound to be affected. If Belinda heard about how disreputable the Torreys looked, she might reconsider Ariana as a future granddaughter–in–law.
Brian asked, “Does Grandma know about this?”
“Not yet.”
“Don’t let her find out.”
“Yes.”
The words had barely left Emily’s lips when Belinda’s voice sounded in the corridor. “Don’t let who find out?”
Belinda rarely came to the company unless there was a serious matter.
Brian frowned. “Grandma, why have you come?”
“If I hadn’t, your fiancée would have blown this whole thing up.”
Belinda’s expression was stern. She sat in Brian’s chair. “Ge call Ariana here. I have something to ask her.”
Hearing this, Emily glanced at Brian, waiting for his instruction.
Brian said, “Grandma, this isn’t Ariana’s fault.”
“Not her fault? The Torrey family made fools of themselves. That’s huge, and you want to hide it from me?”
The Shaw family was a major presence in their circle. If their future daughter–in–law offended them, the consequences might not be worth it.
Brian knew exactly what Belinda meant and tried to figure out a way to smooth things over. Suddenly, there was the sound of high heels outside.
Soon, the door swung open.
Ariana walked in with a polite smile. “I heard Madam Mackle was asking for me, so I came straight away.”
