Chapter 180
Seeing Brian speak up for Ariana, Belinda merely nodded.
“Ariana, you’ve always been smart and well–behaved, but when it comes to matters affecting both families‘ reputations, you’ve been too careless. We’ll let last night slide, but if it happens again, don’t blame me for being mean. I’ll have to reconsider your engagement then,” she said with a smile, but there was a warning in her tone.
Ariana tried to free her hand again, but Brian held on firmly She was about to speak when Brian said, “You’re right, Grandma. Ari has always been smart and well–behaved. Her brother is the one causing problems. Next time, she’ll watch him more strictly, so it won’t happen again.”
He then turned to Emily. “Emily, please escort Grandma out.”
“Yes, sir.” Emily helped Belinda out.
Brian pulled Ariana behind him, blocking her from view. She frowned and reached out with her free hand to pinch. him hard at the waist.
He gasped but had to stifle the sound in front of Belinda. Arjana felt a bit gratified to see him in pain, yet unable to show it.
Once Belinda was gone, Brian immediately turned and pinned Ariana against the wall.
Ariana was startled. Possibly because he was suppressing se much anger, he was rough. The pull made them suddenly very close.
Brian frowned and said, “Ariana, you really want to call off the engagement, don’t you?”
If he hadn’t cut her off just now, she would have asked to end the engagement.
Brian spoke each word slowly. “I’m telling you, that’s impossible.”
“Mr. Lodge, aren’t you being a bit too confident? Madam Mackle just said that if it happens again, she…”
Before she could finish, she felt something soft press against her lips.
Brian was rough, as if he wanted to consume her completely.
He had never realized how soft Ariana’s lips were. Her body was soft and smelled faintly sweet.
At first, he had only kissed her out of anger, wanting to punish her for not knowing her place. But now, an unexpected desire surged within him, making him unable to control himself.
The next second, a sharp smack echoed through the air. Brian’s face stung, half of it burning–hot.
Outside the door, Emily rushed in. “Mr. Lodge!”
“Get out!” Brian growled, suppressing his anger.
Emily backed out at once.
