Chapter 183
Belinda had seen Gwen’s true colors a long time ago. Yet, because Gwen was Ariana’s stepmother and the lady of the Torrey family, Belinda treated her with courtesy.
But when Belinda thought of Igor’s disgraceful behavior from the previous night, she had no desire to humor Gwen any further.
She asked indifferently, “Mrs. Torrey, how much money are you hoping to borrow?”
“Not a lot…. just 90 million.”
Belinda froze. 90 million? That was a bold request indeed.
“Mrs. Lodge Senior, I know the Lodge family has immense resources, 90 million is just a drop in the bucket for you. Please have mercy on us. We really are facing a crisis, or else I wouldn’t be begging for your help.”
Gwen was anxious to redeem the Aurora Pearls. The seller had said the price would rise again in a couple more days. If she waited too long, even 90 million wouldn’t be enough.
“Mrs. Torrey, you’re quite brazen. Do you think we’re just a convenient ATM for the Torreys?

Belinda was already displeased with Ariana’s recent conduct, as well as everything that happened last night. There was no way she would be the sucker to lend Gwen 90 million.
After that cutting remark, Belinda simply hung up, not giving Gwen any face at all.
Gwen stared in shock at the disconnected call.
She actually hung up?
Realizing Belinda had no intention of lending money, Gwen’s face darkened.
What now? If Belinda wouldn’t help, her only option would be to take out a loan. But no legitimate bank would just hand over 90 million to a housewife. Unless… She resorted to a high–interest lender.
Meanwhile, Ariana had been brought to the Lodge residence by Emily.
Ariana hadn’t actually been gone for very long–just a couple of days. The housekeepers greeted her politely, and she merely nodded in response.
This time, she was here mainly to escape the chaos at home. Igor would be getting out of the hospital soon, and she had no interest in seeing him every day.
“Ms. Torrey, everything is ready for you. If you need anything at all, please let us know. Mr. Lodge has instructed us to give you the best of everything.”
“Really?”
“Of course.”
“Wonderful.”
Ariana pretended to look troubled and said, “I always thought my guest room was a bit too cramped. I’d like to move to the room at the far end.”
