Ariana’s eyelid twitched as she asked, “Emily, what does this mean?” 

“It’s a gift from Mr. Lodge. He asked me to apologize for his impulsive behavior earlier…” 

Before Emily could finish, Ariana shut the door in her face, 

Emily called out urgently, “Ms. Torrey! Mr. Lodge really is sorry! He even sent someone to pick you up! Please don’t make this difficult for us! We’re just following orders Ms. Torrey!” 

Inside, Ariana ignored Emily’s shouts. 

However, Gwen hurried downstairs. She pointed at Ariana and snapped, “What’s wrong with you? You dare turn away Mr. Lodge’s secretary?” 

Since Igor had offended the Shaw family, Gwen was desperate to latch on to Brian now. She couldn’t afford to offend him. 

Putting on a flattering smile, Gwen opened the door and said to Emily, “Ms. Weston, don’t mind Ariana. She’s just shy. I’ll make sure she goes with you!” 

Ariana found it laughable to see Gwen currying favor with Emily. 

Gwen still owed Ariana money, yet she shamelessly suggested sending Ariana to the Lodge family to plead for Igor. She was truly arrogant. 

“Ms. Lambert, you have no right to decide for me.” 

“Ariana, I’m doing this for your own good.” 

Gwen stepped closer and continued, “I’m trying to gather the money for the Aurora Pearls and the rest, but your brother is in a bad way. He’s still in the hospital, and we don’t even know if his leg can be saved. If you don’t go to the Lodge residence, what’s going to happen to this family?“” 

As Gwen spoke, she started wiping away her tears. 

Ariana could tell Gwen was putting on quite a performance just to push her into pleasing Brian. She couldn’t help 

but chuckle. 

“Fine. For your sake, I’ll go. But we need to change the repayment deadline. It won’t be seven days but three.” Hearing Ariana shorten the deadline, Gwen gritted her teeth and said, “Alright. If you’ll just do this favor, I’ll figure out how to get the money together in three days, even if I have to sell my soul.” 

“Great. I’ll revise the contract and send it over. Three days, plus you must return my mother’s Aurora Pearls. You can’t renege.” 

Gwen’s mouth twitched, but she nodded. “Yes… yes…” 

Ariana smiled and headed outside. 

Emily hadn’t expected Gwen to persuade Ariana in just a few words. “Ms. Torrey, please.” 

“I hope Mr. Lodge won’t toss my things out again.” 

“He definitely won’t!” 

“That’s good.”
