Chapter 219
Chapter 219
At Lodge Co., it was already 9:00 pm, but no one in the meeting room dared to leave.
Brian’s expression remained grim when he returned to the meeting. He seemed distracted and lost in thought. And everyone could tell that his mind wasn’t on the discussion.
After a long while, even Emily had enough. She whispered, Mr. Lodge, it’s 9:00 pm.”
Brian snapped back to reality and glanced at his watch.
“Let’s end the meeting,” he said coldly.
Noticing his absent–mindedness, Emily hesitated. “Mr. Lodge, about the proposal just now…”
“We’ll revisit it later,” he said before leaving the room.
The people in the meeting room exchanged nervous glances. Revisit it later? Then was their meeting earlier for naught?
Brian’s demeanor was unnerving. He had never seemed this intimidating before.
Inside the lift, Brian asked nonchalantly, “How’s Ariana’s interrogation going?
“There’s no news yet. I can call to follow up,” Emily offered
“No need. I’ll check myself.” Brian dismissed her.
“What?” Emily froze. Brian was heading there himself?
Half an hour later, at the police station.
“Mr. Lodge! What an honor to have you here! Why didn’t you call ahead?” Mick, the chief, hurried over.
Brian wasn’t in the mood for pleasantries. He frowned. “Where’s Ariana?”
“She’s in a cell. Would you like to see her, Mr. Lodge?” Mick looked proud of himself.
“In a cell?” Brian’s expression darkened. “Who told you to lock her up? Has she confessed?”
“This is about Ms. Granger, right? There’s no way she’d confess so quickly. She’s not that foolish,” Mick chuckled. nervously. “I’ve arranged for her to receive some special attention, but Ariana is incredibly stubborn! She won’t say a word…”
Before Mick could finish, Brian interrupted, “Special attention? What exactly have you done?”
Mick froze at Brian’s murderous glare. “Didn’t… Didn’t you instruct us to interrogate her thoroughly
“Take me to her immediately!” Without waiting, Brian strode into the building. Mick scrambled to follow.
Inside the cell, no one knew how much time had passed. The female inmates had grown tired from beating Ariana, who now lay on the floor, covered in blood.
Boss, maybe we shouldn’t go too far. If she dies… There’ll be trouble, right?” one of the women asked nervously.
The leader looked at Ariana’s battered state and couldn’t help feeling a twinge of fear.
Despite being beaten up, Ariana hadn’t screamed once. Instead, she had been laughing. It was a haunting sound that even unsettled her tormentors.
