hapter 220
The leader was about to hit Ariana when a shout came from nearby. “Stop!”
The leader froze. She turned and saw Brian, dressed impeccably in a suit, walking toward them with a stormy expression.
Mick hurriedly opened the cell door, allowing Brian to enter.
It was a chilling sight. The floor was smeared with blood, and strands of hair were scattered everywhere. Ariana
lay in the comer, half–conscious. Her clothes were partially torn, her entire body battered, and her right hand had turned a shade of black and blue. The blood on her arm was especially horrifying.
Brian’s gaze sharply, and he paled at the scene.
Mick was equally stunned, his face turning red with anger at the female inmates, “Who told you to go this far?”
“Wasn’t it you who said… It was fine as long as she didn’t die?” the leader stammered.
Brian’s expression darkened. “Wow, impressive work. I can’t believe you would use your power for this.”
“No! It’s a misunderstanding!” Mick stammered.
But Brian wasn’t interested in hearing more. He immediately lifted Ariana into his arms and strode out of the cell.
“Mr. Lodge!” Emily, who was waiting outside, gasped when she saw Ariana’s state.
This was supposed to be an interrogation. How had it escalated to this?
“Get the car. We’re going to the hospital!” Brian ordered.
“Yes, sir!” Emily quickly ran off to move the car.
Back in the cell, Mick glared at the female inmates with a mix of anger and frustration.
“Officer Zeller, we just did what you told us! That woman was so tough. She wouldn’t confess! We did our best! About the reduced sentences you promised…” The leader grinned sheepishly.
“Reduced sentences? You’re lucky if you don’t get the death penalty!” Mick snapped before storming out of the cell.
These women were out of their minds to take things this far! If Brian decided to hold him accountable, everyone involved was doomed.
At the hospital, Brian carefully placed Ariana on a hospital bed. Watching as the doctors wheeled her into the operating room, he felt his chest tighten with an unfamiliar unease.
“Mr. Lodge, the doctors said it’s mostly minor injuries. She should be fine….” Emily tried to comfort him.
“Fine?” Brian growled. “Tell Mick this. If Ariana’s hand is permanently damaged, I’ll make sure those women lose theirs!”
“Yes, Mr. Lodge.” Emily trembled.
Meanwhile, Brennan drove Evelyn to the city hospital.
When Evelyn spotted Brian standing in the hospital corridor, she immediately rushed over.
“Brian! Are you okay? Were you hurt?” Evelyn asked anxiously, scanning him for injuries.
