Chapter 252
Elise had grown up as a pampered heiress and had never endured such disrespect.
She took out her phone and called Belinda’s number
Francine answered the phone. Elise said, “Is Mrs. Leilge Senior available? I need to speak with her.”
Hearing it was Elise, Francine did not dare delay, so she went and called Belinda, who had been about to rest.
Belinda felt annoyed. “What is it?”
“It’s Ms. Quinlan. She sounds upset.”
With that, Francine handed over the phone.
Belinda could only hold her patience and answer the phone
Immediately, Elise began to speak as though deeply wronged. “Mrs. Lodge Senior, does Mr. Lodge dislike me? If he doesn’t care for me, I’ll just go home!”
“What happened? Speak slowly.”
Belinda was older now. Hearing Elise whimper left her with a headache.
Elise said, “I brought Mr. Lodge some lunch, but he’s ignoring me! He didn’t even give me a proper room to wait in. His secretary is also looking down on me. The Quinlan family may not be prominent, but we still have our pride. If he’s treating me this badly, maybe he doesn’t like me?”
Elise had always been treated like a princess. Back home, a single tear would have everyone rushing to comfort her.
Belinda listened, feeling impatient. She had expected something serious but realized it was just a small matter. Elise was whining over it.
“Brian’s busy with work. You should understand. I’ll speak to him later. If you don’t feel like waiting, just hand the food to Emily. You’ll have more time to get along later, so waiting a little while shouldn’t matter.”
Elise realized Belinda had no intention of stepping in. She froze. Didn’t Belinda protect Ariana? Why was she so perfunctory with her?
Before she could speak, Belinda said, “If you find it too upsetting, I can talk to your parents and call it off. Then, I’ll see about finding you another husband.”
“That’s not what I meant. I…”
“Enough. I have other things to do,” Belinda said before hanging up.
Belinda had chosen Elise because the Quinlan family had a simple background and seemed easy to control. She never expected Elise to be so childish and unreasonable.
Calling to cry and complain over something so trivial made Belinda realize Elise wasn’t reliable at all.
As Belinda was about to get up, Francine approached. “Mrs Lodge Senior, Mrs. Torrey is here.”
“What does she want?” Belinda frowned, showing clear disdain. “Tell her I’m busy and don’t have time. Just make her leave.”
