Chapter 271 

Ariana got agitated and moved her hand, which pulled on her injury. 

Victor smiled at Ariana’s clumsiness. Even Simon had never seen that expression on Victor’s face after many years of friendship. He couldn’t help but turn to look at Arlana. 

Ariana seemed like a fine young woman. 

At that moment, Simon’s lips curled up into a faint smille as though he’d gotten a hold over Victor. 

“But I’ve avenged you. Are you still upset? 

“I was the one who got beaten up; not you. Do you think you could stay calm if someone hit you?” It wasn’t like Ariana couldn’t fight back against the female prisoners, but she had faced them alone. Besides, she had an arm injury, which was why she lost to them. 

If she were given a chance, she wouldn’t end up looking so disheveled. 

“Simon, how’s the injury looking?” 

Simon explained, “That’s a pretty serious injury for a lady. The rest are surface wounds. The injuries on her hand and arm are more severe. She would have lost her limb if they went harder.” 

“Let me take a look.” Victor extended a hand to Ariana. She immediately flinched, but all he needed was a light tug to pull her hand over. 

The back of her hand was badly bruised. Her hand trembled perhaps from the nervousness. 

Victor commented, “This is a deep injury. It will take months to recover.” 

“Are you a doctor? You shouldn’t be checking on my injuries.” 

With that, she pulled her hand away from Victor, whom she had never taken a liking to, even though he was exceptionally good–looking- 

“Victor is right. I am not as qualified as him when it comes to treating surface injuries,” Simon chimed in. 

Ariana doubted Simon’s words. There was no way that the CEO of Smith Corporation, who was renowned abroad, happened to be skilled in medicine as well! 

Simon replied with a serious tone, “Didn’t you know that Victor studied medicine?” 

“Are you fooling me? He’s probably never attended school for more than a few years.” Ariana had looked into the tiniest details about Victor. Victor did not even go to elementary school. He just happened to expand the Smith Corporation through brute force. 

Since Ariana hadn’t fallen for his lie, Simon deliberately added, “I didn’t know you had an interest in Mr. Smith. How did you know he didn’t go to school?” 

“I–It’s just something I heard.” Ariana quickly raised a glass of water and took a few guilty gulps despite not feeling thirsty at all. 

Simon explained, “Victor did not attend school, but he’s smart. He could tell from a glance what had happened to your hand, since he grew up fighting for his life abroad and was injured many times. I have to admit I’m not as experienced as him.” 

All Ariana knew was Victor’s viciousness. She hadn’t learned about these details from his past. She couldn’t help but steal a few looks at him.
