Chapter 290
Ariana met Victor’s gaze and froze.
“Where are you going?” Victor’s tone was calm.
Ariana explained, “Brian is looking for me. I have to go back right now.”
Victor

asked, “What about your handwriting practice? Are you still planning to continue it?”
“Yes, but…” Ariana began.
“Practice isn’t something you can do on and off. Will you keep running back if Brian calls you every day?” Victor cut her off.
Victor’s stern words left Ariana speechless.
His tone turned harsher. “If you want to leave, go ahead. But if you do, don’t ever return and expect me to help you practice your handwriting anymore.”
Ariana knew he was serious. She had struggled so much just to write a paper with her left hand yesterday. There was no way she would let all her efforts go to waste now.
Hearing the commotion upstairs, Simon came over. Noticing the tense silence between the two, he hesitated before asking, “What’s going on here?”
“L.. I want to go back for a bit, but Mr. Smith won’t let me,” Ariana explained while gauging Victor’s reaction.
Victor remained impassive, his expression calm and indifferent.
Simon quickly pieced together what was happening. He asked Ariana, “Is this… because Brian wants you to go back?”
“Yes!” Ariana nodded.
“You’ve already broken off the engagement. Why do you still care about him?” Simon asked as he pushed Ariana back down onto the couch. “I know you’re worried Brian might retaliate against your family. But you don’t need to worry about that anymore. Look, Victor’s helping you with your handwriting now. Isn’t he your teacher? And as your teacher, he’ll surely protect you!”
With that, Simon firmly kept Ariana seated on the couch
Seeing that she was still uneasy, Simon continued, “Relax. If Brian is that clingy, I’ll personally escort you back tonight. When he asks, we’ll just say I took you out for rehab exercises. The engagement is off. You two are through. He can’t control who you spend time with, right?
“…That does make sense.” Ariana began to feel that Simon’s reasoning was sound.
Honestly, she didn’t want to appease Brian either. If it weren’t for her current situation, she would have deleted his contact long ago and severed all ties.
