Chapter 291
Chapter 291
Hunter silently left Ariana’s room without saying another word.
Ariana glanced at Victor, who was still standing in place, and said hesitantly, “Then… should I go to the study and practice my handwriting?”
“Do as you please,” Victor replied while turning and leaving the room, without sparing her a glance.
Ariana hadn’t planned on going back to face Brian’s interrogation. With Simon’s earlier suggestion, she felt justified in staying at the Smith residence.
Unlike the previous night, Victor showed no interest in her at all. The entire afternoon, he was engrossed in reading. By the time Ariana’s wrist began to ache from practicing her handwriting, Victor still hadn’t said a single word to her.
Finally, Ariana spoke up. “Mr. Smith, how’s my handwriting looking?”
She handed the A4 paper in her hand to Victor. Vitor glanced at it briefly before saying coldly, “Keep writing.”
“What else should I write?”
“Obscure words.”
Victor somehow produced a printed list of one hundred rare and obscure words, placing it in front of Ariana. The moment Ariana saw the list, she felt like the sky was falling
These words were utterly impractical for daily use. They were lengthy and seemed more like jargon than anything. Even a single mistake would mean she had to start all over again.
It was a test of absolute precision.
Ariana doubted that even if her hand were in perfect condition, she could write these one hundred words beautifully. Victor was deliberately making things difficult for her.
“Mr. Smith…”
“If you can’t finish them, then go home,” Victor replied coldly, as if he had already anticipated her complaints.
Under pressure, Ariana had no choice but to tackle the one hundred obscure words in front of her. With great reluctance, she picked up her pen once more.
By the time Simon returned, the sky was already dark. His handsome face was marked with the fatigue of a day’s hard work.
He casually pushed open the door to Victor’s study and was surprised to see Ariana still practicing at the coffee table. He froze before saying, “She’s still not done? Victor, how can you be so ruthless to a young woman?”
He walked over to Ariana and glanced at the bizarre words on the table. A conflicted expression flickered across
his face.
“How is it? Does it look decent?” Ariana asked, her eyes filled with anticipation. Simon thought carefully before finally squeezing out a reply. “Well, this is good handwriting. If it were on art paper, it might look even better!”
Ariana’s lips twitched. So, it was still a mess?
Simon glanced at his watch and said, “It’s getting late. Let me take you home.”
