Chapter 292
Victor didn’t even look up as he said flatly, “Go ahead.”
Hearing that he wasn’t stopping her, Ariana finally breathed a sigh of relief.
Simon helped her up as they left. Since the height of the sofs and coffee table in the study was almost the same, Ariana had been sitting on the floor practicing her handwriting. Now, she struggled a little trying to get up.
After Ariana and Simon left, Victor walked over to the coffee table and picked up the sheet of paper Ariana had been practicing on. The handwriting, as expected, wasn’t particularly appealing.
But the error rate? Zero.
A faint smile appeared on Victor’s face. Turning toward the door, he called out, “Hunter.”
“Yes, Mr. Smith?”
“Go buy a comfortable office chair and a proper desk.”
“But, I thought you’ve always said you don’t like office furniture,” Hunter replied hesitantly.
Hearing his own question, Hunter quickly realized that the desk wasn’t for Victor but for Ariana. Without another word, he promptly left to carry out the order.
Half an hour later, Ariana stood outside her apartment building. The sky had turned completely dark. She remembered that this was Brian’s work shift. No matter how angry he might be, it was unlikely he would have stayed in the apartment all day waiting for her.
With that thought, Ariana pushed open the door to her apartment.
The moment did, she regretted it.
Sitting in the middle of the living room was Brian, his expression as icy as a glacier. Even when Ariana had slapped him before, she had never seen such a terrifyingly cold look on his face.
The room was shrouded in darkness, illuminated only by the faint, chilly light of the moon filtering in through the windows. The cold atmosphere made the space feel even more oppressive.
“Where have you been?” Brian’s voice was unnervingly calm as he asked the question.
Ariana hadn’t disappeared for just an hour or two, but for an entire day. Facing his question, Ariana replied, “I spent the night at Selena’s house. Why? Do you need to micromanage this part of my life too?”
“Is that so?”
Brian let out a cold laugh. “I spoke with Selena’s father last night. Guess what he told me?”
Seeing that Brian had already done his homework, Ariana didn’t bother to argue. “Brian, no matter what I’ve done, I don’t think it has anything to do with you. Please stay out of my private life.”
With that, she limped toward her bedroom.
But before she could get far, Brian rose from the sofa and suddenly pinned her against the wall.
The abrupt movement made Ariana’s expression darken instantly. “Brian! What are you doing?”
Before she could finish her sentence, Brian leaned down and bit her lips. The sting of pain shot through her, and Ariana’s expression darkened. She immediately shoved him away, but the pain in her injured arm radiated through her entire body, leaving her weak and trembling.
