Evelyn gently consoled Julia.

Julia had always spoken without thinking. “You’re too kind Evelyn. Look at how Ariana has treated you, yet you’re still thinking about her! You’re too softhearted. That’s why people like her take advantage of you,” Julia grumbled, clearly frustrated.
Evelyn simply smiled without responding.
Worry about her? No. She simply wanted Ariana to experience the humiliation of being mocked at school.
In the past, no one dared openly provoke Ariana because of her status as Brian’s fiancée. At most, they’d whisper behind her back. But things were different now. Ariana had already broken off the engagement with Brian, and the school was full of people itching to see her fail.
Especially now–Fiona, her cousin, was rumored to be engaged to her ex–fiance. Ariana was bound to become the biggest laughingstock on campus.
That afternoon, while Ariana was still practicing her handwriting, her phone started buzzing with messages.
Out of the corner of her eye, she saw the messages piling up. She instinctively reached to flip her phone over but paused when she noticed a message about study materials.
Curious, she glanced at the screen and saw that the class monitor had sent the message.
Ariana hadn’t been attending classes regularly lately and had only gone to the library for short periods. She hadn’t heard anything about study materials being distributed.
Beside her, Victor noticed her serious expression as she stared at her phone. His tone was indifferent as he said, “I told you to focus on your practice. What are you doing now?
“The class group chat says everyone has to pick up study materials in person, with their student IDs,” she replied.
The request was unusual, and combined with what Selena had mentioned earlier about rumors circulating at school, Ariana suspected someone was setting her up for embarrassment.
It was such a petty and low–level trick, but it didn’t take much effort to see through it.
“You don’t have to go. I’ll send someone to fetch the materials for you,” Victor said plainly.
Ariana nodded in agreement. With her current physical condition, even climbing stairs was difficult, let alone carrying stacks of papers back and forth.
In the classroom, Julia and her group were waiting anxiously for Ariana to show up.
“Julia, are you sure she’ll come? She hasn’t even been attending class lately. I don’t think she’ll bother coming here just for some study materials,” one of the male students said skeptically.
Julia, determined to humiliate Ariana, was more anxious than anyone else. “She has to come. If she doesn’t, she can forget about graduating.”
Ariana had been on leave from school for so long that she would need the study materials to have any chance of passing her exams. If she didn’t show up to collect them, she’d only make things harder for herself.
Just as she was about to lose patience, footsteps echoed outside the classroom door.
Julia immediately sat upright, anticipating the moment when Ariana would step through the door and trigger the hidden water bucket, drenching herself in front of everyone
