Chapter 305
The skeptical murmurs from the crowd didn’t stop.
Chloe sneered. “There’s no way she’s actually calling the police chief. Who does she think she is? If she were really someone important, would she be living here? You think we’re stupid?”
No one believed Ariana’s words. They all thought she was just boasting.
But Fiona knew better. After all, Ariana was the eldest daughter of the Torrey family and had once been Brian’s fiancée. Not long ago, Brian had personally gone to the police station to get her out.
“Ariana, why make this a big deal? There’s no need to disturb the police chief! It was wrong of the landlady to treat you this way, and I’ll apologize on her behalf!”
Fiona was desperate to smooth things over before it got out of hand. But Ariana had no intention of letting this slide.
Her belongings had been touched, she had been publicly insulted, and she was being thrown out despite having a
contract.
And they expected her to just walk away? Not a chance.
Ariana calmly pulled out her phone in front of everyone and dialed the police chief’s number. Within moments, the call was answered.
The voice on the other end was polite and respectful. Without wasting time, Ariana gave her address and apartment number. Her tone was cold.
“I expect you to be here within 20 minutes. There’s an urgent matter that needs handling.”
“No need for 20 minutes. Since it’s your case, I’ll be there in 15!”
With that, the call ended.
That entire call was on speakerphone. Silence fell over the crowd as they heard the conversation. No one had actually expected her to actually call the police chief.
Chloe’s face turned stiff with embarrassment. She huffed, “How do we even know she actually called the police chief? Maybe she just found some random guy to play pretend! People like her are full of tricks!”
“Yeah! Like a police chief would just obey some random girl like that? You think we’re stupid?”
Fiona’s expression had grown visibly tense. If the police chief really showed up, then Ariana’s true identity would be impossible to hide.
And if the police started looking into things, would they find out that she had been spreading false rumors about Ariana all day?

“We’ll find out soon enough, won’t we?” Ariana said, turning to Fiona with a knowing smile.
Sure enough, in less than 15 minutes, two police officers arrived at the scene.
One of them took a glance at the run–down neighborhood and barely concealed his annoyance. They had rushed over, expecting some actual high–profile case–only to find out it was just some renter dispute in an old, broken- down apartment complex?
“Alright, what’s the issue? Tell me,” the police officer’s tone wasn’t very warm.
