When Fiona heard that, she clearly became anxious.

“Ms. Piper, please don’t worry,” Francine said. “I’ll ask Mrs. Lodge Senior what she thinks.” 

Francine looked as though she was trying to calm Flona, but her gaze fell on Belinda, who was sitting on the couch. 

Belinda shook her head at Francine. 

Francine quickly came up with an excuse. She said to Fiona on the phone, “Ms. Piper, it’s not that Mrs. Lodge Senior doesn’t want you to come, but Mr. Lodge is really against having extra people at the house. Last night, Mrs. Lodge Senior even scolded him, but he’s being firm. They‘ at a standstill right now, and it’s difficult.”

Belinda already disliked Gwen, so she naturally disliked Fiona too. 

If she hadn’t needed a more easily controlled woman to rein in her grandson, she would never have let Fiona stay at the Lodge residence. 

When she’d told Fiona to come stay, it was only polite talk. She never expected Fiona to take it seriously. She was so naive.
