Chapter 331
“Ariana has been on a break for months. And how is she gonna take the exam with an Injured hand? Let’s get her to drop out of college for the sake of our graduate rate.”
Christopher gave out orders and hung up, not allowing Derek to put in a word.
Derek stared at the phone and grumbled glumly, “Why did you send me to do the dirty job? How about you do it yourself?”
Despite the complaints, Derek did not waste a minute carrying out the task. He decided to plan out a speech and deliver the news to Ariana tomorrow.
At the same time, Christopher dialed Evelyn’s number and spoke to her warmly, “Evelyn–our dear president of the student council–I’ve made the library look into the security footage regarding the trouble Ariana started today, and we confirmed that she had struck first.
“I’ve ordered Mr. Stewart to get Ariana to drop out of school. You have nothing to worry about now.”
Meanwhile, Evelyn seemed to have predicted Christopher switching sides. She didn’t seem surprised at all. Anyone knew to take the side of those whom they’d benefit from.
“Right. Thank you for upholding justice, Mr. Gail.” With that, she hung up.
Brennan asked her, “What makes you so happy?”
“Just some good news.” She beamed.
Ariana made the stupidest mistake by calling off her marriage to Brian. In Gleaston, where one’s background and connections mattered, she had rendered herself worthless without Brian as her
fiancé.
Evelyn felt great after Christopher made that promise.
The next day, Ariana received the call from Derek early in the morning. Although he worded it carefully, she could tell that he was convincing her to drop out of school.
“Mr. Stewart, is this your opinion, or is it Mr. Gail’s idea?”
Derek’s heart dropped to the floor, but soon, he recovered. No matter whose idea it is, the incident has happened. Evelyn said you started it, and we saw you grabbing her wrist on the security footage.
“If news gets out, your reputation will take a hit. Besides, your grades are fluctuating. The graduation exam this year is going to be tough. Aren’t you injured in the hand too? There is no point in sitting for the exam. It would be better to drop out of college for your reputation.”
Derek patiently laid out the pros and cons for Ariana, but she thought it was ridiculous. She had proven her innocence in front of Christopher yesterday, but he insisted on blaming everything on her.
She replied, “Mr. Stewart, please tell Mr. Gail not to worry about me. I will pass the graduation exam. I will not bow down to tactics to make me drop out of college.
