Chapter 330
In Brennan’s mind, Evelyn wasn’t the type to pull such a childish prank.
Evelyn’s face looked awkward for a second, but she said, “Of course not. She and Brian already ended their engagement. Even if they hadn’t, I would never do such a thing
Hearing that, Brennan relaxed. “You asked me to come back here because you wanted to see if Brian’s heart was still with you. You can see he broke off his engagement with Ariana. Why are you still so uneasy?”
“Thanks to you, but I still feel…” Evelyn paused. She couldn’t put it into words. Deep down, she felt that Brian had changed toward her.
“Evelyn, don’t be greedy. You know Brian will never marry you,” Brennan said flatly.
Evelyn’s face changed in an instant. She had always known Brian wouldn’t marry her. Even without Ariana, he would have married someone else.
Still, she couldn’t accept it. Even if she couldn’t be Brian’s wife, she wanted to remain the most special woman in his life.
“Alright, let’s not talk about her. Let’s go eat.”
Evelyn casually linked her arm through Brennan’s, and they left Glea College together.
That afternoon, the dean saw the news on his phone of William and Warto Group’s director Susan holding hands, along with pictures of Brian and Evelyn attending a reception. His heart skipped a beat.
If he had seen all this sooner, he wouldn’t have treated Evelyn so coldly earlier. Now he was in trouble.
William’s companion had returned from overseas, so William probably wouldn’t care about Ariana anymore. Evelyn was clearly Brian’s favorite. Yet, the dean had embarrassed her today.
Growing nervous, he decided to call Brian.
Emily answered the phone.
The dean said politely, “Ms. Weston, there was some conflict today between Ms. Torrey and Ms. Granger. Ms. Granger wants it handled strictly, to give her injured friend some justice. But Ms. Torrey says she was framed. The final exams are close. Should we…”
Emily glanced at Brian, who was in the middle of an emergency meeting.
