Chapter 341
“Alright, I agree.” Brian suddenly agreed to Evelyn’s request.
The latter froze.
Brian continued, “I won’t force you to drop out. You can stay and finish your exams. However, Julia can no longer stay at the school. And you will have no opportunity to study abroad in the future. You can stay in Gleaston if you don’t regret it. I won’t interfere with your life anymore.”
“Brian…” Evelyn murmured.
Brian had never looked at her this way. For a moment, Evelyn realized she was drifting further away from him.
“Emily, lead Ms, Granger out,” Brian called Evelyn by her last name, which showed how distant they had grown.
“Yes, Mr. Lodge.” Emily stepped forward and took the knife from Evelyn’s hand.
Evelyn neyer intended to end her life and was merely using the same old trick of feigning suicide to make Brian yield to her every whim.
“This way please, Ms. Granger,” Emily said coldly.
Men despised manipulative tactics because they brought them unnecessary trouble and were a waste of time.
As she was led out, Evelyn kept looking at Brian, hoping for a reaction. But Brian never spared her a glance.
Inside the office, Brian leaned back in his chair. His mind replayed the moment when Neil entrusted him with Evelyn’s care before he passed away. Brian sighed against his chair.
Brian had no way to cover for Evelyn anymore.
Images of Ariana’s injuries kept flashing through his mind. He would never have turned a blind eye if he had known earlier the kind of suffering Ariana endured at school.
After a while, Emily returned to the office.
“How is Ariana?” Brian asked.
“Ms. Torrey… should still be at school,” Emily replied.
“She still dares to go to school at a time like this?” It was common at Glea College for students to flatter the strong and trample the weak. Who knew how much bullying Ariana would endure if she returned now?
“Call the principal. Tell him that even though Ariana and I have broken off the engagement, anyone who crosses her crosses me.” Brian groaned.
Emily reminded him, “Mr. Lodge, you already gave this order an hour ago.”
She added, “If you’re really so worried about Ms. Torrey, why don’t you go check on her yourself? You’ll come to regret it if you keep being this stubborn and she falls for someone else!”
After working with Brian for so long, Emily knew him like the back of her hand.
