Chapter 358
Before the officer could finish his sentence, the police chief cut him off. “Shut up! Do you even know who’s inside that car?”
“No matter who they are, they should still follow the law!” the officer insisted.
“Follow the law? Did they even commit a crime? They just drove into a restricted area. No one got hurt, so what’s the big deal? Why are you making such a scene?” The chief was frustrated. He quickly stepped forward, waving off the surrounding officers before walking to the side of the car.
The car window slowly rolled down.
The police chief soon found himself staring directly at Victor.
When the chief recognized who it was, his eyelid twitched, and his smile stiffened.
The memory of Victor handling those female prisoners at the station was still fresh in his mind. Even now, he felt a lingering fear.
“Can we leave now?” Victor hummed.
The chief swallowed hard and stammered, “Of… Of course.
“Good.” Victor rolled the window back up.
Snapping back to his senses, the chief quickly ordered the officers to clear the way. Without any further obstruction, Victor drove off.
“Sir! How could you just let them leave like that?” The officers were shocked.
“What else do you want me to do? One is from the Torrey family, and the other is the infamous Victor Smith. Do you dare lay a hand on them? It’s not like they committed a hit–and–run. Why are you so eager to arrest them? Is this what our department’s resources should be wasted on? The chief didn’t want to discuss the matter any further.
He waved his hand dismissively. “Tell your men to wrap it up. And from now on, steer clear if you ever see that car again.”
After that, he climbed back into his car. Only then did he realize his back was drenched in sweat.
No one truly knew the extent of Victor’s power. One thing was certain. The balance of power in Gleaston was shifting.
Back inside the car, Ariana never expected the police would give Victor special treatment.
Her expression turned unpleasant. “Victor, do you even realize what you just did?”
“Since it’s my first time in Gleaston, I figured I should do something memorable.” Victor cocked a brow. “I’m sure you understand, right?”
“You caused a huge scene, Are you trying to make a name for yourself in Gleaston?” Ariana groaned.
Victor chuckled. “Looks like you’re smarter than I thought. Yet you spent all night pretending to be clueless.”
He leaned in, his tone laced with an unspoken threat. “You may refuse to admit your connection to South Gleaston, but I will find out the truth. And if I catch you lying…”
His eyes gleamed dangerously, though he was still smirking. “You should know the consequences.”
