When Ariana heard that Evelyn graduated without any problems, she thought she had misheard. “Evelyn graduated just fine? Why would they decide that? She was the one who led the cheating. How can she face no punishment at all?”
“That’s what the disciplinary committee decided. Mr. Gail has already been removed from his position and is under investigation. A new dean will be taking over soon. This is the best outcome he could get.”
“Was it because of Brian?”
Ariana voiced the doubt in her mind, but then she laughed at herself. It was a silly question. Aside from Brian, who else in Gleaston could pull that off?
William said slowly, “You’ve already done enough. The factis, her backing is stronger than yours. You just have to accept it.”
When Ariana heard William say this, she suddenly looked up at him.
“Why are you looking at me?”
William frowned.
“Are you saying you can’t compare to Brian?”
“I never said I was here to back you.”
“But now, we’re tied together. Brian has already seen you rescue me more than once. He thinks you’re deeply in love with me and that you’re my next target. If you don’t help me, people will say you’re afraid of Brian, and that would damage your reputation,” Ariana said bluntly.
William raised an eyebrow. “That kind of goading never works on me. I think you picked the wrong tactic.”
“William!”
Seeing that William was about to leave, Ariana immediately blocked his path. “You’re really not going to help me? You know I’m your most reliable Susan.”
William looked at Ariana, who clearly wasn’t giving up. He folded his arms and asked, “Are you really so determined to bring Evelyn down?”
“It’s not that I want to destroy her. She’s the one who wanted to destroy me. I always settle my scores. She copied my answers and tore up my exam papers first.”
“So, what can you do? The ruling is already out. You aren’t asking me to talk to the disciplinary committee, are you? I’m just a lecturer. I don’t have that kind of pull.”
“William, don’t think I don’t understand you. If you’re bringing this up at all, it means you have a way. Tell me, what’s your price? I’ll pay it.”
Ariana was sure William had some plan to make Evelyn pay for what she did.
William just raised his eyebrow and smiled. “I do have a way. As for the cost of asking me to help you… Let’s just say you owe me for now. I’ll let you know when I figure it out.”
With that, he turned and left the building
On campus, Evelyn finally received her final judgment. Which she realized she could still graduate, she breathed a sigh of relief.
