Chapter 43
“Brian!” Evelyn wanted to run after Brian
Isaac immediately stood in her way and said, “Everyone’s here to celebrate your birthday, Evelyn! Hurry up and blow out the candles!”
She looked upset to see him standing in her way. Brian had always been stoic and good at controlling his emotions. Why could Ariana affect him so easily? Could it be that he’d really caught feelings for her?
Meanwhile, Ariana and Selena were already outside Nyte Club. Selena was so nervous that she could barely form a coherent sentence. “What if you really piss Brian off, Ari? saw how angry he looked earlier. What if”
“Get in the car,” Ariana interjected. She pushed Selena into the car.
Before the latter could say anything, Ariana felt someone tug her aside roughly. She turned and snarled, “Let me go, Brian!”
Selena paled when she saw Brian grip Ariana’s wrist tightly and drag her away. She hurried after them. “Ari!”
The security guards stopped her before she could catch up. One of them said, “I’m sorry, miss, but you can’t enter right now.”
“Why not? Didn’t you see that my friend got taken away?”
“That was Mr. Lodge. He wouldn’t hurt Ms. Torrey. Please leave.”
“Why, you-” Selena was furious. Brian was an asshole!
Brian dragged Ariana back inside Nyte Club. Ariana snapped, “What the hell do you want, Brian?”
He kicked the door to a private room open as soon as the words were out of her mouth. The people inside weren’t familiar. He glowered at them and growled, “Fuck off!”
The people wanted to protest, but one of them realized Brian was the one at the door and ushered everyone out. Brian and Ariana were left alone in the room.
Ariana wrested free of Brian’s grip once the door was shut and put distance between them. “What now? Can’t I even go home after upsetting you, Mr. Lodge?”
“Who gave you the nerve to provoke me and push my buttons like this, Ariana?” Brian snarled. He glared at her.
Ariana hadn’t just beat Tom up in front of everyone–she’d also defied Brian in public and used the past to provoke Evelyn. Anyone else would already be six feet under, yet she’d had the nerve to walk off before Brian’s very eyes!
