“You…” Brian’s face darkened with anger. 

Ariana calmly sat back down and gestured toward him. “Please leave, Mr. Lodge.” 

“Ariana, think carefully before you speak.” 

“I think I’ve thought it through,” Ariana said with a slight smile. “You mentioned that today is Valentine’s Day. It’s a day for lovers to celebrate together. 

“Should you be accompanying Evelyn instead of taking me home? If she were to see us and misunderstand, that’d be unfortunate, wouldn’t it?” 

“Fine. Remember your words!” With that, Brian turned and stormed out of the restaurant with his men following closely behind. 

Once they left the restaurant, Emily worriedly asked, “What do we do since Ms. Torrey refuses to come with us? What should we tell Mrs. Lodge Senior if she asks?” 

“Find out how exactly Ariana got hurt,” Brian said as he frowned. 

“Are you suggesting those two might have slandered Ms. Torrey? But they seem to be close friends with Granger. If we ask them…” 

“Then ask other witnesses in the cafeteria. Do I have to teach you that?” Brian snapped. 

“Understood, Mr. Lodge.” 

Before leaving, Brian cast one last look into the restaurant where Ariana and William were chatting and laughing as if nothing had happened. His scowl deepened. 

It was Valentine’s Day, and she wanted to spend it with William? Dream on! 

He turned to Emily and said, “Call Mrs. Torrey and tell her to discipline her daughter.” 

“Copy that.” 

That afternoon, Ariana returned home from school. Gwen erupted in anger once she saw the former and pointed a finger. “Ariana! What were you doing at noon?” 

“That’s none of your business, is it, Ms. Lambert? What I did has nothing to do with you.” 

Seeing Ariana talk back, Gwen’s eyes widened in fury. “Nothing to do with me? Did you know Mr. Lodge called us about this?” 

“Oh really? And what does that have to do with me?” Ariana indifferently replied. 

“What does it have to do with you? You openly went on a date flirting with another man in front of your fiancé. Have you lost your mind?” 

The more Gwen looked at Ariana, the more convinced she was that the latter had gone crazy. How could an engaged woman be so brazen about dating another man? 

“Doesn’t Brian often go out with Evelyn on dates? What’s the difference?” Ariana asked coolly. 

“That’s Brian! You’re you! You’re both different! Are you joking?”
