Chapter 88
How could Mr. Dalton not recognize what kind of fish it was?
When Mr. Dalton remained silent, Ariana sliced open the next dish, a stuffed roasted duck, and placed both the duck meat and seafood filling in front of him.
“Mr. Dalton, this is a stuffed roasted duck with a seafood (ing.”
As Mr. Dalton saw that the duck was stuffed with rare ingredients like soft–shelled turtle meat, his hand froze just before reaching for it.
Soft–shelled turtles and bear paws were illegal, and only the wealthy could afford such delicacies.
Mr. Dalton was an ambassador for protecting endangered animals and had donated a substantial sum to charities dedicated to combating animal cruelty.
So, how could he possibly enjoy such a dish?
Noticing that Mr. Dalton hadn’t touched his food, Brian asked, “Is the food not to your liking?”
“Mr. Lodge, as you know, I was in the seafood business when I was younger,” Mr. Dalton replied coldly. “I’m more familiar with these ingredients than anyone.”
Brian was still clueless about what was going on.
But Mr. Dalton continued, “I despise deception and illegal activities. I think we should end our cooperation here.”
Brian frowned upon hearing this.
“Mr. Dalton, my family has prepared a few delicious dishes. Would you like to come over and try them?”
William suddenly spoke up, and Mr. Dalton nodded.
“Then we’ll take our leave for now.”
With that, Mr. Dalton stood up and left the Lodge residence with William without looking back.

This time, Mr. Dalton had shown no respect to Brian.
“Mr. Lodge!” Emily called out from the door, stepping forward as if to ask whether they should chase after them. But before she could say more, Brian’s eyes turned cold.
In Gleaston, no one dared to disrespect Brian.
“Ariana, what have you done?” Brian’s voice was filled with fury as he turned on her.
Ariana feigned her innocence and said, “Mr. Lodge, what does this have to do with me? Mr. Dalton left on his own.
I was defending you the entire time. Could it be that you’ve done something to upset him?”
Brian furrowed his brow.
Ariana had indeed been speaking up for him, and it didn’t seem like she’d done anything shady.
However, unbeknownst to him, whether it was the substitution of spider crab for king crab or cod for Chilean sea bass, Brian couldn’t tell the difference–but Mr. Dalton certainly could.
In Ariana’s previous life, she had gone out of her way to learn Mr. Dalton’s preferences to help Brian secure the deal.
