Tang Yun snickered. There was resentment amid sheer coldness in her tone. Her oppressive words rang out like a rumble of thunder for Ye Fan, humiliating him.
In an instant, Ye Fan clenched his fists and looked intently at the woman in front of him. “So do you mean to say that I'm just a lowly nobody without fame and not worthy for you? It's merely my wishful thinking that the head of the Chu Sect bears a child for a worthless person like me?”
Tang Yun refuted coldly, “Don't you think my words make sense? Other than being without any fame, you are indeed an impudent and hard-hearted b*stard! If not because I'm injured, I would have finished you off long ago! You can't even defeat me; yet, you're still thinking offighting against the Chu family? Hmph! You're just like the frog in the well that knows nothing of the sea. Don't you know you're just shooting yourself in the foot?”
There were inexplicable, complex emotions in her icy-cold tone. It seemed she was venting her resentment alongside her exasperation.
Even so, she was oblivious to the change in Ye Fan's countenance. Infuriated by her mockery, his face turned grimmer gradually; his fingernails sank deeper into his palms.
Unable to tamp down his fury any longer, Ye Fan flipped out. “Haha! Well-said! I'm the frog in the well that shoots myself in the foot? It only strikes me how worthless I am in your eyes!”
He continued to guffaw as he fastened his gaze at Tang Yun with his flaring eyes. There were unmissable hints of sorrow and disappointment in his laughter. Apart from that, the affection and warmth in his heart for the past few days had vanished within seconds.
“No doubt, you have a point. How is it possible for a lowly, worthless punk from a small village like me to be comparable to the prominent and invincible head of the Chu Sect? Thus, I'll never be able to catch your eye, let alone have you bearing my child. I'm just overestimating and making a fool out of myself.” Ye Fan smiled self-deprecatingly; a sense of dispiritedness was written all over his chiseled face.
“By the way, it's better to be in this way. At least, I can confront the Chu family without anything bugging my mind.” Ye Fan turned and left without hesitation.
“Ye Fan, stop right there! Aren't you afraid of meeting your end at any time? Why are you insisting on digging your own grave? Have you thought it through? Don't you know you will not only face the wrath of the Chu family but also the Chu Sect's mighty attack? By then, you'll surely end up dying a horrible death!” Tang Yun shrieked apprehensively at him to hold him back.
She could not fathom why she was trying to talk Ye Fan out of confronting the Chu family. Perhaps, deep down,I'm still reluctant to end up battling against him?
“So what? Didn't I ever say that it's fated for me to battle against the Chu family? I must settle the score with them to seek justice for what happened many years ago, even if it will cost my life!” Ye Fan enunciated the last few words, causing Tang Yun's heart to skip a beat.
He halted in his tracks and added coldly, “I had never intended to be on bad terms with the Chu Sect. But if all of you insiston stepping in, I won't let any of you off.”
“Not only that...” Ye Fan's voice trailed off as he turned abruptly to gaze subtly at the captivating woman in front of him.
Sniggering, he snapped sardonically, “Tang Yun, bear in mind that there is always someone better out there. Don't ever think that you're undefeatable just because you ranked first in the Sky Ranking! Apart from that, you'd better not think that you have nothing to fear just because the Chu Sect is deemed the most high-ranked among all. Mark my words. I'll give the Chu family, the Chu Sect, and you a great surprise soon. By then, you'll surely be regretful of humiliating me today!”
Swoosh!
The strong gust of chilly wind whipped up the sand in a swirling frenzy. As the wind billowed, Ye Fan stood steadily with a hint of sheer disdain written all over his face. As he sneered, his cold voice resonated across every corner. The next moment, he turned and left without sparing Tang Yun another glance.
Dumbstruck, she stood rooted to the spot for a long time. Ye Fan's frigid derision echoed in her ears like a series of never-ending waves.
Nobody could sense her utter anguish and indignance at the moment. She tried to cool her head off by suppressing the simmering emotional turmoil within herself.
Even so, she could not hold herself back after quite a while. As tears of resentment started to well up in her eyes, she yelled out at Ye Fan in exasperation. “Ye Fan, you're a b*stard! You're indeed insolent and cold-hearted! You're only asking for trouble, and I won't give a d*mn about you again! Heed my words. You'll only end up dying a horrible death by provoking the unrivaled ones of the Chu family!”
