Chapter 206
Liam was rather happy to please Delilah. After they went downstairs one after another, Liam went directly to the kitchen. In the yard, Cynthia rose in confusion and wanted to follow him. However, Delilah stopped her, “Sit down.”
“Master Garten, where’s he going?” Cynthia didn’t follow but remained standing.
“Being the exemplary husband that he is, naturally, he must be able to handle both business and household duties. He’s going to cook, Delilah replied, taking a sip of coffee handed to her by Hallet.
“What‘ He’s going to cook?” Cynthia grew anxious. “He’s still not fully recovered. How can we let him cook? Besides, it’s his first time here. We can’t make him cook.” She glanced at Hallet. “Hallet, you should go and cook instead.”
Hallet widened his eyes and immediately refused, “No way. I rarely get to enjoy a day off.”
“Then I’ll do it, as long as you can tolerate my cooking, Cynthia said, hurrying toward the kitchen. At that moment, Liam was washing vegetables. Cynthia took the vegetables from his hands and put them back in the basin. “Have some rest. I’ll cook
Looking at Cynthia who had appeared out of nowhere, Liam smiled lovingly. “I’m feeling much better after taking Master Buckley’s medicine. I can handle simple tasks such as cooking. Go wait outside”
“No” (
Cynthia couldn’t bear to let him cook and insisted on taking over.
Liam smiled datingly and placed both hands on Cynthia’s shoulders. “Cynthia, do you know how to cook Clusian dishes?
“As long as it’s edible, who cares if it’s Clusian or not?” Cynthia said.
Liam playfully pinched Cynthia’s delicate nose. “Master Garten specifically asked me to cook because she wants to enjoy Clusian dishes, and none of you know how to make them. This is my chance to earn her favor. Don’t ruin it for me.”
Thinking Liam’s words made sense, she could only compromise. Then let me help you.”
“It’s okay. The kitchen’s full of smoke and grease. It’s bad for your skin. You should stay outside,” Liam said.
“But…” Cynthia still wanted to insist, but Liam pushed her out of the kitchen.
Leh alone in the kitchen, Liam washed and chopped all the vegetables. When it was time to start cooking, he looked at the pile of firewood, stumped. He had been so focused on preparations that he hadn’t realized they were using a wood–burning stove. Having never cooked with firewood before, he hesitated for a moment. Determined, he decided to give it a try, thinking it couldn’t be that difficult after all
Liam tried to light the fire, but every time he added larger pieces of wood, the flames quickly died out. After several attempts, he realized the issue, noting that he hadn’t used enough kindling and had already burned through most of the kitchen’s dry grass.
He looked around and spotted some dry leaves in the backyard that seemed perfect for starting a fire. Gathering them up, he brought them inside and lit as many as he could. Strangely, the leaves emitted a faint, pleasant aroma when they burned, but Liam didn’t dwell on it and continued cooking. Using the limited ingredients available, he managed to prepare a few simple dishes.
Soon, the enticing aroma of food wasted through the courtyard, drawing Cynthia into the kitchen. She helped Liam bring the dishes to the table Just as they finished setting up. Queena and Evan returned. Queena entered, talking excitedly about what had happened on the mountain, while Evan took the freshly picked herbs to the backyard to dry.
Meanwhile, Liam emerged from the kitchen, maintaining a cautious distance from the food. Though he could now tolerate the smell without feeling nauseous, it still unsettled his stomach. Seeing his discomfort, Cynthia fetched the medicine Evan had given him earlier that morning. The medicine not only could treat his current condition but also boost his overall health.
Liam took the medicine, and as soon as he swallowed it, a wail echoed from the backyard. Evan, not even bothering to remove the basket back, stormed over, his eyes blazing with fury as he glared at everyone present “Who touched my herbs?” he demanded. Everyone looked at him, from his puzzled. Evan held up the leaves, shouting “Do you know how much effort it look to find these! Where are they? Everyone shook their heads, clueless.
Evan was normally easygoing, but he was fiercely protective of his precious herbs and would fly into a rage whenever someone tampered with them. Hence, everyone quickly denied any involvement, trying to stay out of the matter. Even Delilah, who often clashed with him, didn’t dare say
a word
Liam looked at the leaves, finding them oddly familiar. After a moment, recognition dawned on him. These were the same leaves he had used to start the fire. He closed his eyes in exasperation, dreading Evan’s reaction when he found out those precious leaves had been used as kindling. Despite his reluctance, Liam knew he had to come clean. “Master Buckley, he began, speaking up to draw everyone’s attention.
Cynthia turned around in horror and said in a low voice, “Don’t tell me you did it.”

Liam nodded slightly. “I used them to start the fire.”
“What?” Cynthia was stunned. Before she could react, Evan dropped his pack and lunged at Liam, ready to beat him up. Reacting swiftly, Cynthia pushed Liam toward the stairs. “Go hide in the room.”
However, Liam stood his ground, wearing a firm expression. “No, What if Master Buckley directs his anger at you instead?”

Of all the terrible translations this is by far the worst. Garbled rubbish with different languages in between. I wouldn't recommend this novel!...
