A Night's Mistake: The Besotted CEO's Obsession novel Chapter 213

Chapter 213

Anthony ended up scaling the cliff using just his hands. The jungle was pitch black at night, and he found a spot with lots of trees to grab onto. The slope was almost a straight incline, and he figured it would be extremely hard to get up. But as he pulled himself up using the tree trunks, he moved with surprising agility, as if he’d done this before. Anthony didn’t dwell on it, since he needed to focus on climbing. After a while, he finally made it

to the top

Now that the rain had stopped, Anthony was soaked through due to the residual rainwater on the foliage. Water dripped onto his face from his hair, making him look messy but rugged. Without resting, he went in the direction that Amy had pointed out earlier. It was late at night, deep in the rainforest, and he searched for a long time without seeing anyone or finding a hospital. He must have taken a wrong turn somewhere, and Anthony started worrying about Theodore’s condition. Even though he was tired and his heart was acting up, he couldn’t stop and kept looking for the right path

Meanwhile, Amy comforted a restless Theodore in the cabin while keeping an eye on the cliffs. She prayed fervently, hoping that Anthony would safely make it to the top. When the sun started coming up the next day, Anthony still hadn’t come back. Worried something bad had happened. Amy handed Theodore to George and Layla, deciding to go into the mountains to look for him. Just as she was about to leave, she heard a noise at the door. A bunch of guys in black suits, carrying guns, walked in. They faintly smelled of blood and did not look friendly at all. Amy had a bad feeling. This place was almost cut off from everywhere, and hardly anyone ever came here. She wondered. How did these people find their way here! As soon as those people entered the yard, they began rummaging around and leaving it in a chaotic mess

One of them saw Amy and came into the cabin. He placed the photo he was holding in front of Amy and asked, Have you seen this person in the photo?” Frowning, Amy looked at the picture. It was Anthony. It seemed these [eple had come for Anthony, and they were the likely cause of his Injuries and amnesia. Faced with these scary men, Amy’s first thought was to protect Anthony. She shook her head and said firmly. I haven’t seen him

No way. I saw his car go off the cliff myself, and we checked yesterday. Besides, the river is flooding, so there’s no way out without equipment. He’s got nowhere else to hide, the man said, pressing his gun against Amy’s head, looking serious. He moved closer, increasing the pressure on the gun in his hand. Tell me, or my gun won’t behave so nicely demanded the man, Ruben White. He was the one who had hidden in the bushes and caused Anthony’s car to go off the cliff by shooting it. They thought it was all done, but now their bosses wanted proof. So, they had to come down with tools from the edge of the cliff, only to find no sign of Anthony in the wrecked car

Amy’s heart raced as she cursed Anthony in her mind, thinking, Anthony always finds trouble, wherever he goes Trying to stay calm, she silently hoped Anthony wouldn’t show up yet. Amy said, “I remember now. He came here yesterday asking for a drink of water and then left. If you don’t believe me, you can go ahead and check. He’s really not here.”

Ruben didn’t believe her. Just then, a noise came from the staircase. Ruben shot Amy a dangerous look and signaled to a guy next to him. The guy understood and moved toward the noise with a gun in hand. Amy panicked, fearing they might harm Theodore, George, or Layla. In this isolated place, these men could hurt them without facing any consequences. “That’s my dad, mom, and my child. Please have some mercy, she pleaded Just then, George and Layla appeared, holding Theodore. The guy looked around, making sure there were no others, and then directed his men to search the house

George frowned deeply at their behavior. This is my home What are you doing?”

Don’t worry, we’re just looking for someone. While holding Amy hostage, Ruben took out a photo of Anthony and asked, Old man, have you seen this person?”

Seeing the familiar face, George was stunned for a moment. He was about to speak but caught Amy’s urgent look. He then changed his response and said, I don’t know him”

Hearing this, Ruben let out a sinister laugh and then slapped Amy hard across the face. You think I didn’t see you giving him a look?”

Amy fell to the floor, blood trickling from her mouth. Her body was already weak, and now she felt even dizzier and more lightheaded. George tried to move toward her but was stopped by Ruben pointing a gun at him. Stay there, or my gun might just go off,he warned. Layla froze in fear, clutching Theodore, who started crying loudly after seeing Amy get hit One of the men, irritated, said loudly. Make him shut up, or I’ll do it for you.Theodore didn’t understand the situation and cried even more out of fear
